Pantheon Review – Greco-Roman

Review outdated as of 4/30/15. Updated ratings will be released each NA godfest.

The introduction of the Awoken uevos has breathed new life into a pantheon that was widely regarded as garbage. However, outside of those hard to obtain forms the pantheon is still fairly useless. Unless you’re at a point where you can farm the evo mats, this pantheon is not for you.

Minerva – A
1533
Pros
  • 5-turn orb change w/defense break
  • Dragon/Devil type
  • Plentiful, yet mostly unexciting awakenings
Cons
  • Heavily gated by evo mats
  • No skill up fodder
  • Niche leader
  • Other uevos are useless
Notes
An elite sub that can fit on a wide variety of teams and contribute with an elite 5-turn orb change. Minerva is the prize of the pantheon and will be a relevant monster for the foreseeable future.

Neptune – C
1534
Pros
  • Poison resist
  • Poison helpful early on
  • Damage boost active
  • Plentiful, yet mostly unexciting awakenings
Cons
  • Heavily gated by evo mats
  • No skill up fodder
  • Niche leader
  • Awkward typing
  • Long active cooldown
  • Other uevos are useless
Notes
The damage boost is great, but the poison component is mostly useless and makes the cooldown too long. While there isn’t much devil or attacker support for water, the introduction of uevo Hera-Is gives hope that there may be more in the future.

Ceres – B-
1535
Pros
  • Great anti-bind utility
  • Useful non-Awoken forms
  • Good types for wood
Cons
  • Heavily gated by evo mats
  • No skill up fodder
  • Niche leader
Notes
Great utility sub to combat binds, but otherwise unexciting. G/D is one of the best AA Luci subs.

Venus – A-
1928 - Awoken Venus
Pros
  • Triple light rows
  • Non-awoken forms are quite good
  • Awoken active is quite good
Cons
  • Loses god type
  • Water sub-element instead of dark
Notes
The last of the Greco-Romans to get an awoken uevo, Venus has the most impressive awakening list featuring three light rows, but perhaps the least impressive active. Change the World is fine, but light really needs orb changers to go with their rows. She’s still great for DQXQ, but the lack of dark sub-element hurts. She retained her healer type, but her devil type in light is basically worthless, especially compared to god. In this pantheon, Venus will only trail Minerva in terms of sub usage, but isn’t quite at the elite level.
Updated: 3/8/15 – Reflects awoken uevo.
Updated: 3/15/15 – Venus’s active got a huge upgrade, tacking on a light orb enhance to her 6 second CTW. If you think of her active as a 5-turn orb enhance with a bonus CTW effect added on, it become much more palatable, at least for me. Upgraded her grade from B+ to A-.

Hades – B
1748
Pros
  • 5 offensive awakenings
  • Devil type
  • Increasing devil TPA support
  • Row+TPA gives sub flexibility
  • Good cooldown for gravity w/kicker
Cons
  • Heavily gated by evo mats
  • Gravity is unexciting
  • No skill up fodder
  • Niche leader
  • Un-Awoken easily replaced by Hera
Notes
There’s been good support for dark devil TPAs lately — likely in an attempt to make Beezelbub more relevant — and Hades is one of the best. That being said, the gravity or time extend on his active don’t work particularly well with prongs.

Pantheon Grade – B-

While the Awoken forms make the entire pantheon solid, the evo mats pose a huge obstacle. Until you get those mats, you’re basically stuck with a worthless monster that doesn’t contribute much toward actually obtaining them. Then, outside of Minerva, once you get them they aren’t exactly God’s gift to PAD either.

There is also the point of using them as leaders against certain Challenge Dungeons and descends, but as more iterations of Challenge Dungeons come out they get less and less useful for clearing them, to the point to where super-niche isn’t narrow enough to describe their usefulness in that capacity.

Upated: 3/8/15 – Venus bumps up the pantheon from C+ to B- due to her triple light rows.
