Pantheon Review – Norse

Review outdated as of 4/30/15. Updated ratings will be released each NA godfest.
A serviceable pantheon of row leaders and subs. This is the first pantheon where all the gods started with similar awakenings, actives and leader skills. In my opinion, this led to the Norse pantheon being the oldest that is still fit for current use without needing drastic balance changes or new uevos despite being so old.

Freyr – B-
Pros
  • 2 fire rows
  • Element-based damage boost active
  • Attacker and dragon types good for fire
  • Respectable RCV for his types
  • Great sub
Cons
  • Underwhelming leader
Notes
Fire dragons have gotten a lot of good additions lately and Freyr is one of the few (only?) on-color damage enhances for them.

Idunn & Idunna- B
Pros
  • 2 waifus for the price of one
  • 2 water rows
  • Element-based damage boost active
  • Great sub
Cons
  • B/B form somewhat useless
  • Ideal subs are REM-heavy
Notes
The best leader in the pantheon as they provide an HP boost and 2 rows which is ideal for a blue healer team. Sadly, as with most water-based teams, their teams are very REM reliant. Bumped down a notch due to the new Sun Quan uevo, but still a premier lead.

Freyja – C+
Pros
  • 2 wood rows
  • Element-based damage boost active
  • Great wood balance support
  • Great sub
Cons
  • Relatively underwhelming leader
Notes
Severely outclassed by other wood leaders, but still usable.

Thor – C
Pros
  • 2 light rows
  • Element-based damage boost active
  • Great sub, ideal for DQXQ
Cons
  • Underwhelming leader
  • Light physical and attacker types need more support
  • Lacking good subs
Notes
Awkward types for light is holding him/her back. New light attackers appear to be favoring prongs over rows, but still a decent lead if paired with attacker Amaterasu.

Loki – C
Pros
  • 2 dark rows
  • Element-based damage boost active
  • Great sub
Cons
  • Poor leader
  • Dark balanced needs more support
  • Many better devil leaders
Notes
Balanced type is baffling.

Pantheon Grade – C

While the entire pantheon has a highly desirable pair of row awakenings, their actives, while good, hold them back compared to other options. As subs there are better options for damage enhance actives. As leaders they are awkward to pair with themselves as there aren’t many instances where 1.5x over 6 turns is more than a luxury. It’s not a bad idea to roll in their godfest if you need some row subs, but it’s likely better to wait for other options. Hopefully this outdated pantheon will get some love in the future, but I believe there are a few other pantheons that have a stronger need.
