With the Halloween REM Being Fairly Disappointing…

…many are looking forward to the Christmas REM. I am too, but if we look a bit further ahead than that, there could be an even bigger whale-bait REM: Valentine’s Day. I’m actually surprised they didn’t do one this year, but with Halloween getting its own event, Valentine’s should have a pretty good chance (and I believe it’s a bigger holiday in Japan, too — because anime is surely the best reflection of Japanese culture available). Just imagine your waifu of choice and the art possibilities. They can even do a corresponding White Day event for those that prefer husbandos. How could GungHo pass up this opportunity?

    • I feel like for Haku they could make her strictly worse than her awoken or devil form and people would still pull out their wallets to get her.

      • …I would legitimately buy her for my last 300K. After over two grand and zero hakus, I wouldn’t even bat an eye, she’d instantly make three different endgame teams viable for me, AYomi, Zaerog8 and Yomi dragon. Though, I’m not buying yomi dragon in terror that they release a 300K MP Waifu that I NEED, so I guess only two endgame teams really 😛

  1. I am NOT pleased at the possibility. My wallet weeps at the possibility.

One thing is for sure though, I’m no longer buying Yomi Dragon. HKali isn’t incredible, but she’s almost incredible. She’s arguably *almost* worth her MP cost. One of these events, they’ll make a card that IS worth the MP cost, AND is waifu tier… And that is why I’m no longer buying Yomi dragon. Ugly dragon vs potential waifu… and the choice is clear.

    Also, in before Christmas Genbu.

  2. It’s kind of funny how the two holidays are similar in Japan, Christmas there is somehow more about romantic hijinks than anything else (again using anime as our focal point).

I wish Gungho would go all-out in designing truly unique special REM’s instead of variants of existing cards, it’d at least make sifting through the garbage rolls more worthwhile. Variants are fine and some of the art is stellar, but they’re just not worth the price of admission.

Valentine’s REM is basically the final frontier, where we are fated to fight with our wallets to the bitter end. Do it for her (or him).

    • I would appreciate more on-theme art. MP is MP, but it feels strange rolling the same chibis in every special REM. But yes, unique cards would be nice. I think they don’t do that because the design space in PAD is so limited that they don’t want to waste it on what is essentially a cash grab.

I’m actually going to do my best to save up for Valentine’s. We may not end up getting it, but I want to be prepared if we do. They’re really going to have to do a number on the Christmas REM to get me to roll now and I can pass on trying for Ryuune for a few months.

      • Something like giving the chibis on-theme art (even just the gold chibis!) would be nice. I was hoping that themed silvers in Izanami and Toth & Sopdet meant we were finally getting a REM with a bit more themed art. People who are happy with “anything” would roll less, but collectors would (presumably) have to roll more to complete a larger set. Hopefully more cards get added when these events come around again, and not just buffs/uvos. I know Academy just repeated in Japan, but maybe in the Spring, so that the additions only happen once a year.

  3. I wonder if they’ll put Durga for Valentines (although clearly she should’ve been Halloween)? Monopolize on the hearts in the LS or something.

    • Hmm, having hearts as a theme for Valentine’s is a neat idea. There’s a lot of good options if they went that route. Maybe Siren could finally get some love (at least on NA).

  4. If they put the REM color Valks into the Valentine’s REM I’m going to get suckered into spending my hard-hoarded stones on it because I desperately need the red, green, and blue Valks. What’s rarer, the REM Valks in the Pink REM or the Valks in the REM with no boost to rates ever? *bangs head against a wall hopelessly* How do people even pull those cards from the REM at all???

    • I don’t know exactly how the rolls work in this game, but in my experience with gachas in other games rolls of a certain rarity are distributed at a specific rate. Ignoring bonuses for featured rolls, the chance of getting a specific card within that rarity is equal to all others. PAD may or may not work like this, but if we assume it does, then the less “competition” at a certain rarity means you’ll have a better chance of getting the roll you want if you get a roll of that rarity. So if we assume that the rate for a 6-star in the Pink and normal REMs are equal (a fairly big assumption) then you’ll have a better chance to get a Valk from the Pink REM. Of course there are so many assumptions and unknown factors that who really knows what the actual chances are. Add to the fact that a chance for a 6-star is so small that there probably isn’t a noticeable difference for those that don’t roll very much. tl;dr: who knows?

    • Does Chester even count as a husbando? If they were dead set on a Wizard taking up their male card in special REMs, Wee Jas or either of the Sirius brothers would’ve been a much better choice. For Wee Jas, a time extend stick is much more useful than an SBR stick and the Siriuses at least make orbs. Although I don’t know if they qualify as husbandos, either. I guess it’s all in the eye of the beholder.
