That was a pretty long wait since the last godfest; about three weeks.

Day 1 is solid, but the Three Kingdoms no longer carries godfest days. It’s still hard to beat them in overall sub value, but their former superstars, Cao Cao and Liu Bei, are merely good now. Such are the ways of power creep and meta shifting. It’s harder to evaluate Egypt 2 since they all don’t have their uevos yet, but Set, Net and Osiris are all solid leaders and subs and hopefully Hathor and Nephthys follow suit. The lack of Kalis this day only makes things worse.

Day 2 is a pretty good day for subs. The Heroes have formed the core of many teams since their inception and that doesn’t look to change anytime soon. The Japanese 2 have all gotten new uevos which increases their viability as subs.

The big question for anyone considering rolling should be: should I wait for the PCGF or not? In general, I think day 2 presents enough overall value to roll now, but day 1 is likely a pass. It’s almost guaranteed that the good rolls from day 1 will also make the PCGF, so you’ll get more value if you wait.

As previously stated, the Three Kingdoms have lost much of their luster over time. Cao Cao has been a victim of a fire meta that’s now centered around Shiva Dragon. Liu Bei has been overshadowed by Vishnu and is only preferred on Verdandi teams. Sun Quan has been overshadowed by Awoken Isis. DQXQ and Lu Bu always had narrow use as subs, but are still solid leads for beginners. Overall still a very strong pantheon, but unless you have multiple hits on this day, it’s no longer automatic trying to roll for that one sub.

The uevos Egypt 2 has received thus far have increased their viability as subs, but haven’t done much for them as leaders. They’re still powerful leaders by virtue of their tankiness, but just a few extra awakenings, no matter how good, couldn’t take them to the next level. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of uevos Hathor and Nephthys get; I’d speculate that the delay means they’re getting leader-focused uevos which requires a bit more testing, but who really knows why GungHo does things.

Day 1 isn’t nearly as good for rolling as it would’ve been a few month ago. Combined with missing the Kalis from the GFE pool, you’ll have to think long and hard whether rolling this day is worth it for you.

The Heroes have aged incredibly well, a testament to how indispensable an orb change that enables both offense and defense combined with great utility awakenings are in this game. Yamato is a strong option for Shiva Dragon. Andromeda is a great option for Neptune Dragon, I&I-Ryune and Lakshmi. The only member of the pantheon that is faltering is Perseus as skill bind resists have become easier to access.

I believe this is the first time we’ve gotten Japanese 2 since all their uevos have been revealed. While they’ve all seen significant improvements, none of them have really pushed them to an elite level. Okuninushi is now a strong option for Arena utility, particularly on Yomi Dragon teams. Izanagi got the biggest overall buff, but is still inferior to Kanna. Uzume and Kushi are nice utility options, but aren’t game changers on the level of Isis or Amaterasu. U&Y got the biggest buff as a leader, but is overshadowed by the plethora of awoken and MP options. None of them are disappointing, but none are particularly exciting either.

Overall, this is a pretty solid sad for subs. Unlike day 1, this day also has the Kalis, further increasing the sub value. If you have multiple hits, then this is a good time to roll, just be aware that the PCGF is coming soon.

Did you mean Lu Bu here?

Considering the random shit show the last PCGF was, do you really think we’ll get the quality cards like Osiris and Cao Cao into the lineup? The FB community that voted in Izanagi and Yomi last time based on then 6-month old meta definitely won’t have caught up with the accelerated meta we have now.

Not to say the PCGF won’t have generally high value, but even if by some miracle all 30 selections are top meta-defining cards, some quality monsters will still be left out. My attitude has become if someone already has many good cards but is fishing for specific key pieces (me), I think it’s better to roll when they come up in normal godfests instead of waiting and hoping they’ll show up in the PCGF.

    • There’s always going to be garbage in a PCGF, even in a JP one, but NA generally does pretty well for itself. Yes, I think Cao Cao will make it. We didn’t even have Awoken Shiva the last PCGF, but NA was prescient enough to vote him in anyways. Therefore I think this time around many of his subs will make it. I don’t think Osiris will make it as he’s not that great nor is he popular. I was mainly referring to Liu Bei and Cao Cao making it (justified for today’s meta or not).

    • A month ago during 4x GFEs. Outside getting that event again, whatever godfest where you have multiple hits. Not knowing what your box is like this is most likely the PCGF, but there are some pretty good godfest options nowadays. The gala has a pretty big influence, too.

  3. Hey Setsu, just discovered you and have to say I’m quite impressed with the site. Anyway, I’ve got a dilemma. I can’t quite decide if I should pull Day 2 or not. About half of each pantheon would be new and major hits for me would be Pandora and Okuninushi. Out of the GFEs any of Blodin, Kanna, Satsuki, or either Kali would be nice. The exclusions are also perfect as I have no desire for Matatrons or Sonias. What do you think?

    • Without knowing more about your box or spending habits it seems like a decent day to roll. Pandora will likely make the PCGF, but Okuni likely won’t. It’s uncertain if Kanna or Satsuki will make it, either (I’d like to think they would, but who knows with NA). There’s always potential for more value in the future, but waiting is an opportunity cost in itself. If your dupe risk is around where it would be for any other godfest, this seems fine.

    • The PCGF(Player’s Choice God Fest) is where we get to vote on what GFEs(God Fest Exclusives) and Pantheon gods are featured. The voting is conducted through the official Facebook page and the God Fest is held about 1-2 weeks after voting ends. The 30 Gods that receive the most votes get 3x rates. Generally speaking, this means most of the top tier leaders and subs will be available all at once.

  4. Setsu, do you think Zuoh has a chance of appearing in this PCGF? I just need him to make my own Meimei system (that, and courage to un-evo a max skilled G/L Meimei…)

Also, not really related GF related, but do you use Bastet for Ultimate Arena or have any tips for it? What are my chances without a Vishnu, Perseus or GZL?

    Like

    • I think the chances are very low for Zuoh. He doesn’t get much attention outside the Meimei System and seeing as only a few people have access to it, it’s doubtful that he’s popular enough.

I haven’t attempted Arena yet. I didn’t see much point as Ra Dragon is coming out soon. At least with our current sub pool, it looks impossible without GZL for burst on the Kalis. That will change soon, though, once Courage Machina comes out as she’s better than GZL in that role.

  5. My rule for rolling is to only roll when all the cards I rolled previously are well-leveled and awoken. The recent descend carnival left me with lots of monsters to level up and become materials for some awoken gods so I won’t be rolling this time. Not that I could anyway since I foolishly rolled during Halloween and left with little stones to use.

What’s your rating on non-pantheon golds such as the cyber dragons, riders and wizards? Or are they too meh worthy to be mentioned?

    Like

    • Yeah, overall, they’re pretty meh. The best ones are the CyberBeasts and -Dragons since their actives are great and their awakenings are not bad for troll golds. They can also be used to make system teams. Ninjas are fine. The rest are pretty crap.

  6. Rolled this morning (day 2) with the delusional hope of getting a second DKali for the Ra Dragon team I’m working on. And what do you know…this lucky bastard hit it on his 5th roll! I was literally sitting in disbelief for like 10 seconds.

Though I did get suckered into buying another pack 😡 I love and hate this game.

  8. Well I rolled a second light kali today and I am thinking I need to make a light kali team and start getting better at this game 😛 I was thinking something like Lkali, Lkali, Dkali, AIsis, flex spot where i can put izanagi, valkyrie, Dizanami. Does that look good or do people not use that many kalis on one team?

  9. I rolled a few packs this godfest and ended up with 3 hakus.. was wondering if I should toss them onto A. Yomi or a Z8 team to make the most use of them..?
