- Awoken Loki – Assuming that he has the same leader skill as his brethren, RSonia can now be put to rest for dark-devil row teams. Seeing as RSonia’s active is pretty useless in the endgame — it just doesn’t do enough average damage — replacing her with Loki is a boon and also frees up a sub slot that had to be dedicated to a damage enhancer. This opens the possibility of running two sets of Zuoh-Pandora or Haku-Akechi, increasing the rate the team can burst without sacrificing any heartmakers. It’d be nice of there was a Ryuune- or Saria-level leader to pair with as something like Beelzebub still limits the sub pool to devils, but he should do for now. I’m curious to see how Loki-based teams turn out on JP.
- Michael uuevo – I never considered the possibility of the Archangels getting uuevos, but this is the best possible scenario because Michael is best suited as a sub on an attacker team like Ishida Mitsunari. While I would’ve loved another skill boost, the three rows are amazing and the 2k auto-heal is a nice bonus, I guess. My temptation to make a Freyja-Ishida team has increased significantly. I’m excited to see what happens to the rest — I’d definitely hypermax an Uriel if he gets the same treatment — but it’ll be most interesting to see what they do with the oddballs Raphael and Lucifer.
- Hathor uevo – This uevo, assuming no leader skill upgrade, is pretty much on the same level as Osiris: a nice bonus, but really doesn’t change much for the team. The damage that orb enhances contribute shouldn’t be underestimated, especially since GungHo is willing to stack them higher than rows or TPAs, but they just don’t present enough of a damage boost to push the team to the next level. The lack of a skill bind resist strains the sub pool, but you probably wanted LKali and Awoken Amaterasu for the endgame anyways. I don’t know what the ideal team is, but I’m thinking Hathor / LKali / HKali / Amaterasu / flex / Hathor where the flex spot can be another LKali or Kanna if you need the burst. After using Bastet, Yomi and Ra Dragon, I wish the team had more time extends, but you can’t get everything (unless you’re awoken), I guess.
- Angel uevos – Pretty boring, to be honest. You know you’re in trouble when GungHo can give you triple dongs and no one gives a shit except for that one guy.
- Ariel – She’s by far the best of the bunch, but probably won’t be used. Using her on a rainbow team, light’s current strength, and risking the orb spawn ruining your rainbow activation seems like a bad deal and LKali pretty much precludes her from covering fire. I guess those few people still using Athena have a nice addition.
- Ruel – Not great, but usable. Pretty much inferior to Vishnu in every way, but I’d rather have her on Bastet than Liu Bei since you can activate her twice as often and she doesn’t risk flooding the board. The active is inferior to a standard five-turn orb change, but none of them have three TPAs.
- Famiel and Lumiel – Still pretty much useless. Their value is directly tied to the power of U&Y and Durga teams which is still quite low even after their own new ultimates. Their board changes are simply put to shame by the awoken Chinese, the new dragonbounds and even by Gadius and Typhon (who will also get hastes) since at least they generate hearts and have a 2:2 orb changer to combo with. I’d like to be wrong, though.
- Shonen Sunday Collab – I’m not optimistic about getting this, but it’d admittedly be pretty neat considering I’m a fan of the IPs they revealed.
- Max beating the dungeon with Kite and Baggi made me pretty salty.
What do you think about Halloween Vampire to pair with A. Loki?

Breaking hearts isn’t something you usually want to do with a tank team, especially if it’s not making hearts en masse. Vampire or even Claire are not great options; certainly usable, but not great.

Sadly, I felt exactly the same way (which is to say underwhelmed). Typically on reddit the day after a bunch of new reveals you see nothing but threads popping up left and right dedicated to the topic. There were basically none today…
The only one I was remotely interested in was Loki, but I hate his art. I wish they would get the guy who drew Awoken Sakuya to do it. The Michael UUevo was probably the highlight for me and mostly because I liked the art.

Kozaki Yuusuke’s only REM art is for Sakuya. He recovered from the uuevo with her awoken form in a big way. I’m not a fan of the Loki art, either.
Suzuki Kaori does Michael and she’s my favorite PAD artist. She does most of my favorites, some of which are: Awoken Ceres, Haku, Pandora, Sarasvati, and Astaroth.

Who does the art for Awoken I&I and ult evo Noah? I really like their art as well.

I believe that’s Hino Shinnosuke who does quite a bit of PAD art: http://www.puzzledragonx.com/en/illustrator.asp?iid=1. I like his work too.

Hey setsu, great blog. Can you provide a link to where you find out the artist information for the PAD arts? Thanks!

I generally use PDX to find that information. They only have the artist credits listed for older cards, but those almost always extend to the new cards of the same characters. I believe there’s a PAD artbook that probably has the artists listed as well.

I am in love with Michael’s art, it’s enough alone to pique my interest in wood rows. I’m hoping Uriel will graduate from his ridiculous shounen look.
Speaking of Uriel, he’s a solid pick for Shiva Dragon, but I have to wonder if Gungho has any plans for fire dragons. There are a handful of strong subs but the limits on them based on lack of typing or TPA are frustrating. I see wasted potential but I guess it’s hard to find them a new home. Maybe Guan Yu will someday be brought back from the dead?
Their decision to slap 3TPA on all AA2 instead of unique designs suited to their potential niches is disturbing to say the least.

They had the perfect chance to promote dragons with the MP Dragons, but went with gods instead. NA is also missing key dragons via collabs in DBZ, Monster Hunter, Duel Masters, and Saint Seiya. It seems unlikely dragons will make a comeback anytime soon; heck machines aren’t even a thing yet.
Yeah, the Angels were extremely lazy design. Here’s hoping they’re a bit more inspired with Rozuel, but she may actually have been one of the best ones to get 3 TPAs, being an Urd sub and all.

I like Ruel. But between Liu Bei, school Athena, and Vishnu she is likely to still sit unevolved in my box. I wish they would have made that heart enhance a bind recovery awoken skill instead so she offered something unique to the range of triple TPA green cards. As it is now she is unlikely to get a spot anywhere.

Dang Ariel with the triple TPA and that attack puts her at one of the/maybe the strongest light damager? Its a shame, cause I can put her on my Sakuya team since I don’t have a Kali, but she will be useless the second I get a Kali…Such a shame… aside from like Athena/God LS unconditional farming leads.. she doesn’t really have a strong fit in any teams… and even then, Verdandi and the Norns are already great farming leads… poor Pantheon.

The angels 2 were a weak pantheon. Without radically changing their active and LS the only way to buff them is to give them good awakenings. Gungho’s modus operandi has been to give underpowered cards triple TPA. See Liu Bei, Set, Awoken Hinokagutsuchi. The UUU buff is lazy design but at least the cards have some value in some teams now because it’s hard to deny the power of UUU.
Rozuel is the worst of the bunch because her active does not promote her leader skill at all. Her bind clearing utility has been surpassed by Ulti Evo Ame, Red Dragon Knight, and Red Riding Hood. Even if she got UUU, converting light to heart has minimal uses outside of maybe as a Gadius sub. Fire has a couple of UUU options in Awoken Hino and Ult Set already. Not to mention high base attack double TPA cards like Cao Cao and Awoken Shiva. Having another fire UUU attacker card is not as exciting as water or dark getting UUU card on a board changer.
The AA2 stats have not been revealed so final judgement is still up in the air. UVOs typically add 30-50 weighted stat points. The distribution of the stats can make a big difference in evaluation of the new uvos.
Attackerasu and Ars Nova finally get their dream sub in Ult Ariel. Outside of that, it’s hard to find a team for her. Theoretically you could also put 4 of her on a Saria x Awoken Thor team. Since her active is 4 turn cooldown, you have 2/10.5/2.5 team for farming.
Lumiel, Awoken Loki, Awoken Yomi, Beach Pandora, Anubis, Lumiel could be a team. 100% skill lock resist 100% skyfall enhaned dark 14x atk 1.56 rcv. for minimal effort.

A team of Umiyama/Famiel/Blodin/X/X/Umiyama could be pretty decent (A tier at best given Game8’s placements on other teams), with X being more Famiels/Umiyamas/BValk, or utilities like DKali/DIza. But why would you when you can just hit much harder with say, Awoken Bastet, A.Horus, or A.Sakuya with much less effort, or Hor

I was dreaming that ult. Hathor would get a few dongs and a SBR. Darn ;( Oh well, I will still enjoy playing around with it I’m sure.

The new info is out for the announced cards. Hathor got a much needed skill lock resist awakening instead of the announced heart orb enhance. She also gained important healer subtype. Two much welcomed changes.
Ariel didn’t get any attack stat boost. Ruel gained 150 atk and Famiel gained 50 atk. So this puts Ruel somewhere in the midpoint of Liu Bei and Vishnu for Bastet. Probably still worse than Kaede but not everyone has 6* GFEs. Theoretically, Famiel would only be about 8% dmg behind Awoken Kagu when comparing dmg in a vacuum. This is a good addition to the growing water TPA sub pool.
Michael got an amazing +500 atk as his uuvo stat buff. This makes him higher atk than Ishida and possibly the highest atk wood row enhance card.
And just to show how little the dev team things of heart enhance awakenings, they just threw one on Set, Nut, and Osiris for giggles.

The Michael buff is amazing. Still not impressed with the Angels, but at least they aren’t embarrassing anymore. I’m a bit surprised they went through with the SBR for Hathor, but it’s a good change. Too bad the rest of the pantheon didn’t get it, either. SBRs are great for everyone, but it would’ve made Set a great sub option.

JP tier list got updated with the new cards as well. It’s pretty telling that Lumiel, Famiel, and Ariel made the list as A rank subs while Ruel didn’t show up on the radar. I guess it’s a testament to wood’s plethora of TPA subs that a Triple TPA sub with orb change change active and above average attack doesn’t automatically make it onto the list.

Seeing how Rozuel didn’t get anything, I’m suspecting that GH would turn her into a leader rather than a sub. Every other red cards do what she does but better, Yamato as heart-maker, Ame bind-clearing, Set and Kagu triple-prongs, etc. AA2 have potential to be great leaders, and most pantheons follow the pattern with 1 or 2 cards being completely off from the rest. Maybe they would buff her current leader skill and add a requirement for heart orbs to get extra multiplier? I can’t wait to see what she would turn into.
Famiel has always been my white whale, and her UVO just hit right on the tip of the nail. I might even skip PCGF for an AA2 fest since my green and Durga teams demand more subs. At least my Ariel (first roll ftw) is going back to my UY team as a light orb spawner and will definitely become a sub for my future Sakuya team.

If by chance you’re right about Rozuel, I wouldn’t get your hopes up for a non-awoken leader, especially since she’ll be stuck with the same garbage awakenings. Also Ariel seems horrible for U&Y.

They did a fair amount of justice to Indian 2.0 so I have hope in a decent leader skill if she was to be a leader.
Ariel saved my butt many times from orb-troll and beside a 2nd Blodin + some niche bind-clearer and shield card, I don’t really have anything better. She would be the first to go once I roll a Kali or Famiel though.

If by justice you mean they were basically a blip on the radar, then that’s cool.

Indian 2.0 were Ultimate Evos not Awokens. Problem these days is that the Awoken power curve is so high that regular Ultimate Evos have no chance of catching up because the dev team’s philosophy is not to overly buff Ultimate Evos leader skills. Thus leading to the existence of more and more UUvo cards. They try to make the cards more attractive by adding a lot of weighted stats and awakenings. If you look at the JP tier list, outside of collab cards, there are 0 ultimate evo version of pantheon gods in SS/S/A+ ranks. Every A+ and above leader is a Awoken, Collab, GFE, or MP store card.

This was the second JP stream I caught live, the first was when they unveiled AI&I and thor. I have two chat windows open when watching, one is the stream chat, the other is the PAD Forum chat in a popout window. During the I&I stream, everyone on both chats were freaking out the entire time. For thisone however, pretty much everyone was unimpressed. Funny seeing the contrast 😛
Personally, I think it was underwhelming. Loki is basically what everyone expected, AA2 buffs are solid, but not enough to make them ideal subs on any teams that I can think of, Shounen Sunday is never coming to NA, so… yeah.
Personally, I think that they are taking Hathor in the right direction. We didn’t need ANOTHER light TPA rainbow lead. I think that pushing OE on her is a solid move. I liked that heart enhance awakening, but SLR is certainly much better. All in all, she’s very viable, but not OP. Which is fine, as she’s just a first uvo, and her closest competition are two awokens. Her eventual awoken form will be VERY powerful. Personally, I think she’ll be RaDra 2.0, a little less damage, but much more tankiness. Stall through everything, survive everything, GG. Wish I had her now, but there’s plenty of time to pull her before I have a shot at arena anyways, so yeah.
Michael UUvo is exciting to me. As someone who uses Gabriel on A Lakshmi, Lemme tell you that if he gets the triple row treatment, I’m suddenly getting a free 20% damage boost 😀 In addition, if that’s the case, my Hermes-less Neptune Dragon team is suddenly looking up! Not as much as if I get hermes, but still.
