More huge changes. Game8 got rid of their old A-tier and shifted A+ down to A. In response to both Game8 and GameWith contracting their lists — changes that I highly endorse — I decided to only include AppMedia’s S-tier. This, once again, forced to me to slightly tweak the aggregate scoring algorithm. For better or worse, outside of most of the Honorable Mentions being dropped there weren’t many changes.

Linka. I’ve received a surprising amount of questions about this card on this site and elsewhere even though, outside waifu reasons, she’s fairly useless. Is she bad? No, but certainly not worth 200k MP. Anyways, the point is she’s only appearing on this list by way of her ranking on the Pad-Plus popularity list. Cute is everything.

The future of this post series. Coming into the sixth week, I’m a little disappointed that I’m still making adjustments to the scoring system. I guess it can’t be helped if the underlying tier lists keep making big changes, but I was hoping I could settle on one thing then ride it for a long time. I’m unsure when I’ll take the list out of it’s current beta/trial version, but I may just have to accept that I’ll have to keep adjusting things as I go.

JP Aggregate Leader List β Changes of Note

Card Notes
2253 - Destroyer God, Shiva Dragon
Change: 3➞4

Shiva Dragon didn’t have any movement on any of the lists this week, but was a casualty of the updated scoring scheme. To be honest, it’s probably worse than everything else in tier-4 as far as the endgame is concerned.

2011 - Awoken Bastet
Change: 4➞❀

Similar to Shiva Dragon, Bastet and Kite were also victims of the new scoring scheme. As much as I love Bastet, I can’t argue with her new placement.

2735 - GC Navigator, LINKA
Change: Added to ❀

She’s only on the list due to the Pad-Plus popularity list.

1954 - Awoken Shiva
Change: Removed from ❀

List of cards removed from the honorable mention tier: Shiva, NY Horus, Bouya, Gadius, Horus, RKali, Hayashida, Lakshmi, Gon, Ilm, NY Kanna, Hathor, NY Amaterasu, Amaterasu, Kanna, Yuria, Sun Wukong, Fenrir, DMeta, Typhon, HKali, Eschamali, Gran Reverse, Levi. Can’t say I have a problem with any of them (but Lakshmi will live on in my heart).

There was no movement, but they did update their holding tank with Lightning and Sephiroth. Ichigo was finally removed and since he didn’t make in into their list proper, we can take that to mean he didn’t make the cut. With Game8 also removing him from their list, I think it’s safe to say he was overhyped.

  1. It’ll be interesting to see what–if any–effect skill transfer will have on the tier lists. After all, leaders with poor or niche actives can inherit more useful skills to mitigate their main weakness.

    • I’d be surprised if it was a sea change since the second active has its CD lumped on top of the original. A mediocre 8 CD active with a great 8 CD second active is still 16 CD. Absolutely worth doing, and will probably pull a few leaders out of the trash, but it’s not like it’s kicking any of these other guys out for now. At least until Arena 3.

But I’m ass at predicting anything, so who knows?

      • I guess it can also be argued that the strong leaders with good actives can inherit good ones too, therefore the entire field goes up and the relative positions don’t change much.

Dunno. I’m just excited about its implications for the Awoken Indian 1.0s since Shiva and Lakshmi can get more useful actives, and Parvati’s CD is fairly low.

      • So far, lucifer and Ra Dragon. Ra Dragon is now basically SSSS tier and everything else is nothing compared to it.

the reason why lucifer benefit greatly is that his active can now be useful. Yes the CD is long, but remember that before, the active was basically useless. Useless to long CD is still major upgrade. Whereas Pandora active was already useful to the marginal benefit is smaller

    • This is from the perspective of endgame leaders. Yuna is obviously much better than before, but is still bad. Probably the closest endgame comparison is Sakuya. You trade a lower ceiling for an easier activation, making her an amazing late-game leader. They both lack HP or RCV multipliers to be viable in the extreme endgame, except Sakuya is bind immune which is a huge advantage. Similar to Rukia, she has no offensive awakenings, but she doesn’t have that killer sub like Scheat to make up for it. She’s not good enough to make the list.

I thought Sephiroth was amazing at first glance, but I also thought that with Ichigo and he pretty much went nowhere. 81x ATK and 2.25x RCV is pretty great, though, and unlike Ichigo you don’t have to use a skill to get it. The active is unimpressive, but usable. Somewhat worse than Ra Dragon’s since I value the extra time more, but since his multiplier isn’t as high the enhance should help make up for it when you need it. The sub pool restriction is also similar to Ra Dragon; no SBR and limited to certain types. Except Ra Dragon is a bit more flexible due to the god multiplier not mattering quite as much where as you really need devil/attacker for Sephiroth’s 3x (although that 3x is pretty interesting for damage control and clearing trash). This means you don’t have access to DKali which might be the team’s greatest weakness and NA will unlikely have access to Ichigo. So you’re basically stuck with HKali, which is fine, but you won’t be able to attack and heal at the same time which makes the RCV multiplier worse. He’s also not bind immune. Considering everything, he’s probably a tier-4 leader, if that. He could easily shoot up the rankings if get got “that one sub”, though (I’m thinking like DKali board change + 2x SBR).

      • The one thing about Sephiroth in comparison to other restricted LS cards is that his subpool doesn’t seem all THAT restricted and it’s deserving of mention that unlike specific cards these days that come out recently is that he has an entirely manageable and flexible team setup, minus the fact that DKali isn’t supported, as he has access to cards that allow him to have special advantages, such as Alraune, even offcolor seems decent as it supports cards like Phoenix Rider, Tora and Yuna.

He can always pull out more special cards that will help him work in the future.

        Like

        • A color match lead without access to DKali seems pretty horrible. On top of that, you need to fit in 5 SBRs in 4 slots while covering all your colors since Sephiroth doesn’t help there. Then you add the type restriction on top of that and the team seems pretty damned restricted to me. You mentioned some random subs, but none of those make the core of a team. Your core is Ichigo and HKali; color match teams need at least two Kali effects to be consistent in the endgame. This means in two sub slots you need 3 SBRs and 3 elements. That pretty much forces Alraune (very situational, forces fire+water sub), Castor (not attacker/devil, forces fire+wood sub) or Yuna (not dark, forces fire+wood sub). Doesn’t look great. Is he a good lead? Sure, but at this point in time there are too many restrictions to consider him top-tier.

I don’t know what teams you’re comparing him to, anyways. Of all the best type-restricted leads in the game, only really Astaroth has what I’d consider a restricted sub pool and Sephiroth’s is much worse by comparison.

I don’t know what you mean by “pull out more special cards that will help him work in the future”. If you’re referring to future cards making him more relevant, you could say that about any team in the game.

  2. RIP my Amaterasu </3

That's okay . If the tier lists are more heavily dependent on Challenge 9/10s and Arenas than before, it only makes sense that leaders like Amaterasu would be dropped.

Sad to see Shiva go as well just as I've begun adding finishing touches to the team (sans +eggs) but when farming Z8 with Bastet vs Shiva, Bastet is much more reliable for some reason, even if I don't use actives on a floor Bastet just dishes out more damage. Kind of weird I guess. Time extends also make it easy to get through baby Z8 since I suck at the game. I'm tempted to jump my +eggs over to my previously untouched wood box but the completionist in me wants to finish what I've started (Cao Cao) before progressing further.

  3. These tier lists don’t take in to account sub flexibility right? The tiers are based on how strong they are with an ideal team?
