I’m short on time so I’m going to keep my comments short. Luckily, there wasn’t too much movement this week. I decided to tweak the tier thresholds again which resulted in Freyr making tier-4 while not having any movement on the lists.

Currently, cards on the Pad-Plus popularity list will be added to the honorable mention tier if they don’t appear on any other list. I’m strongly considering removing this functionality.

JP Aggregate Leader List β Changes of Note

Card Notes
2261 - God of the Night, Tsukuyomi Dragon
Change: 2➞3

Game8 finally followed suit and downgraded Yomi Dragon resulting in a fall to tier-3. The reason it isn’t on the same tier as Neptune Dragon is because GameWith put it in their B-tier. I don’t know if many would agree with that, but either way there’s no contesting that Yomi Dragon is no longer on the same level as Ra Dragon (and hasn’t been for a long time).

2325 - Awoken Yomi
Change: 4➞❀

Game 8 removed Yomi from their list.

New Card Holding Tank

New cards will be held here temporarily in an attempt to isolate the aggregate list from knee-jerk ratings.
Card Notes
2780 - 解放者, Lightning
Ranked Sites: Game8 (A)

Despite the lack of an HP or RCV multiplier, Lightning is a fairly strong lead. Her damage is obviously great at 126x — with the possibility of stacking rows — and the healing is somewhat similar to a Sakuya team by virtue of the healer type. However, her biggest asset might be how strong her active is in Arena 2. If NA gets the FF Collab again, the value of her active for skill inheritance is so high that the collab REM will still be worth rolling even if we get a delay like last time (I sure hope not, though).

2766 - 覚悟の召喚士, Yuna
Ranked Sites: AppMedia (S)

Yuna actually plays similar to Lightning — high multiplier with the possibility of stacking rows, no HP or RCV multiplier but still has respectable healing — but trades activation flexibility for a weaker multiplier. It’s that flexibility paired with a still very nice 64x that makes her surprisingly strong. Instead of having to dedicate slots to Kali board changes, she can focus on utility subs which only gets more valuable when you factor skill inheritance. AppMedia currently has her at S which might be a little ambitious so I’m curious if she’ll make any of the other lists.

2765 - 片翼の天使, Sephiroth
Ranked Sites: AppMedia (S-)

Unlike the previous two, Sephiroth has a severely constrained sub pool, but in return he gets an RCV multiplier. He also lines up incredibly well for soloing Machine Zeus. I haven’t totally bought in to him being an elite endgame lead — I’m skeptical any of the FF cards are, to be honest; great, yes, but not elite — but the raw power is definitely there.

Game8 followed GameWith’s example and created a farming-only list. I don’t have time to update the script to scrape this information, so you’ll have to check it out yourself. I’m still deliberating what I want to do with these farming lists; I might just make a section at the end of this post for them.

Game8 Changes of Note

Card Notes
2261 - God of the Night, Tsukuyomi Dragon
Change: SS➞S

Yomi Dragon obviously isn’t on the same level as Ra Dragon anymore, so this change should come as no surprise.

2253 - Destroyer God, Shiva Dragon
Change: Removed from S

Shiva Dragon is correctly removed from this list. Still the best overall farming lead in the game, though, and it’s not close.

2780 - 解放者, Lightning
Change: Added to A

I’m curious where the other lists place Lightning, if at all.

2325 - Awoken Yomi
Change: Removed from A

Both the lack of HP and/or RCV multipliers and bind immunity spelled the end for Yomi. Now everything on this list — except Lightning who’s basically just a better version of Yomi — has at least one of those.

AppMedia Changes of Note

Card Notes

I have a hard time believing Yuna will stay here. She’s quite good, maybe a little underrated, but I don’t think she’ll stick here.

2594 - Anti-God Machine, Ragnarok Dragon
Change: Removed from S-

Ragnarok Dragon always stuck out as a strange pick. There’s some potential, but he’ll need a killer sub and maybe even a buff to warrant future consideration.

  1. God the FF REM cards tempt me so hard, not only because their art is GORGEOUS and not only because Lightning, Sephiroth, and Yuna are some of my all-time favorite characters, but because they’re SO FREAKING GOOD.

but of course it’d be a giant silverfest so it’s honestly a bad idea but…UGH….ugh………… *cries* It’s so painful knowing that such power and awesomeness is locked behind the terrible rates of special REM machines.

      • Oh seriously? Probably still not high enough to merit my nonIAP stones 😦

I will probably go check in on the rates in NA/JP though, just because I’m curious now.

        • Well there’s the whole thing with there being both 5 and 6-star gold eggs. Unfortunately, most of the 5-stars are on the silver egg level.

    • Just think of the things you can easily clear with Ra Dragon, but can’t with Yomi Dragon. That just about sums it up. Yomi Dragon hasn’t been relevant in the extreme endgame since Arena 1.

      Like

    • First off, Ra Dragon can reach multipliers shooting over 100x. Second off, Ra Dragon himself has two TPAs and a really good leader skill plus Dark Kali/Ragnarok/etc. exist. Ra Dragon can not only spike REALLY well with a full god team, but he has an RCV boost on his leader skill that allows you to heal back quickly and easily. Yomi Dragon by comparison caps off at x16 and thus is heavily reliant on good awakenings to compensate. And many great dark subs are not God type.

Ra Dragon can also control his damage by not matching all the colors, allowing you to counter resolve and damage absorb. Something Yomi Dragon has a harder time doing.

All in all, Yomi Dragon simply can’t match up. Ra Dragon is the current king of the metagame, allowing for clearance of basically everything in exchange for a moderate level of skill (or luck, unlike Anubis). And that probably won’t change for a good while.

      • Ra Dragon is more capable than Yomi Dragon but I need to point out some erroneous things here.

        1. Yomi Dragon has a 36x atk leader skill
        2. Yomi Dragon has a 2.25x rcv like Ra Dragon and has comparable RCV at around 8k for ideal teams
        3. Yomi Dragon spikes when using actives is higher than Ra Dragon due to being monocolor

Ra Dragon’s benefits over Yomi Dragon

        1. Ra Dragon’s team is almost entirely or is entirely unbindable so you completely remove one variable that can kill your team.
        2. Ra Dragon team has a couple thousand more hp than Yomi Dragon. Due to current content mechanics, this allows the team to tank preemptives and rage hits that Yomi Dragon cannot without using an active shield.
        3. Ra Dragon is not reliant on using an active to spike. Any board with a dark or light tpa and all colors and heal will allow ra dragon to spike 10 million dmg. Yomi Dragon can only typically spike 3-4 million with 5 enhanced dark orbs on the board.

        • Thanks for the great write-up here, though do you have any thoughts on why Yomidra dropped in comparison to NepDra? That really is the only thing that confuses me really(well… in this context at least), unless it’s simply that NepDra hits HP thresholds easier since Blue subs are so tanky naturally?

  2. I am curious at this point, is RaDra the only relevant lead for arena 2 or is pandora/luci/nept dra relevant? Im debating beginning farming runs, but since arena 1 became simpler due to yomi dra, I worried about screwing up radra boards over a long dungeon.

    Like

    • Ra Dragon has such a huge advantage in Arena 2 there’s no real point in using any other lead unless you just want to clear it for its own sake. I’m not sure there’s a point in making a farming team for Arena 2 since Arena 1 is supposedly being re-added as a technical.

  3. why is it that shiva dragon is so far behind yomi dragon and neptune dragon for non-farming purposes? i agree yomi dragon has more utility, but shiva dragon and neptune dragon have the same weaknesses plus neptune dragon needs more orbs to activate its full multiplier

    Like

    • Have you cared to actually read the cards? Neptune Dragon doesn’t require god type so its sub pool is significantly better. Easier activation doesn’t matter, either, since the orb changers are so good. Where Neptune Dragon has a prayer of one-shotting certain things and getting out of the Kali danger zone, Shiva Dragon has no hope at all. Then there’s other factors like water subs having more HP and Neptune Dragon’s poison actually being quite useful nowadays.

As for Shiva Dragon vs. Yomi Dragon, that shouldn’t even require an explanation.

  4. The FF2 Cecil seems like a powerful monster, yet noone is mentioning it. Can you explain in short why it is considered in the lists? Its the only 6 star I´ve pulled from the collab, and honestly, I got very excited 🙂
