Short on time. I’m going to keep the comments to a minimum this week. Which seems to be fine since there wasn’t much movement of note.

JP Aggregate Leader List β Changes of Note

Card Notes
2255 - Sea Deity, Neptune Dragon
Change: 2➞3

The MP Dragons are slowly dying off. It remains to be seen if the Four Gentlemen will take their places, but if Xiang Mei is any indicator, the answer is yes. I’m eagerly awaiting for JP to announce the stats for the next one whose art was revealed on their last stream.

2766 - 覚悟の召喚士, Yuna
Change: Added to 4

The FF cards are finally out of the holding tank and Yuna is the only one to make the aggregate list proper. AppMedia is the only source that seems to believe that, though.

New Card Holding Tank

New cards will be held here temporarily in an attempt to isolate the aggregate list from knee-jerk ratings.
Card Notes
2756 - 紅蘭の君子, Xiang Mei
Ranked Sites: Game8 (S), GameWith (SS), AppMedia (S+), PadPlus (2)

If the current ratings hold, she’ll debut at tier-2 next week. Which seems a bit ridiculous considering all the hype, but that’s why there’s a holding tank; we’ll see what happens next week.

2824 - メトロポリスの守護者, Superman
Ranked Sites: GameWith Farming (A)

While it’s somewhat sad seeing one of the historically most OP characters from American comics relegated to farming duty, there’s no doubt that he’s great at it. Not all hope is lost, though, as he does have at least one Arena 2 clear under his belt. Here’s hoping his active gets the cooldown reduction to eight that the original Chinese are getting, too.

GameWith appears to be the only list ballsy enough to equate Xiang Mei to Ra Dragon. Which still surprises me since Game8 and AppMedia are more prone to overrating hyped cards..

I’m surprised Xiang Mei isn’t #1. I guess Lightning is that popular, both in and out of PAD.

  1. Really hyped to see the new Four Gentleman card! Here’s to hoping Gungho finally tosses green/blue a bone instead of shitting on them as usual. Also, thanks for the post as usual, Setsu.

    • Wood in particular is desperate for an endgame lead. If this was Blizzard balancing, wood would be getting it’s time in the sun soon, but considering this is GungHo they might just screw it over again.

  2. If the Four Gentleman cards have similar tanky + offensive leader skills and one of them has the requirement that fits my box perfectly, I’m dropping 300K MP no regrets.

I’m glad I didn’t get suckered into NepDra or one of the Marionettes. I still want the Marionettes but those Four Gentleman cards are just too good, and so beautiful.

Of course, it needs to be a rather perfect fit for my box before I’ll be tempted. Not “im just one rem sub away” but “I HAVE EVERYTHING THANK THE LORD”. So we’ll see…

    • Feels bad. I just bought NepDra, because I had two Hermes, Andro, and Orochi. Beginning to wish I saved my MP until all the new Four Gentlemen cards were released. Oh well, live and learn.

    • I think I’m in the same position haha… but I deciding between getting the Gentleman series or just investing in Shiva Dragon to farm everything super easily as most of the game is basically just farming hah, .. We’ll see indeed!

      Thanks for your work Setsu!

    • Careful what you wish for — Xiang Mei is great, but significantly better in multiples. I suspect the other MP flowers may be designed in a similar way, such that it’ll be 600 or even 900k MP if you want to unleash the full power of the team.

  3. On another note, it appears that JP is getting Hera Dragon soon?

I actually rather like that art… a lot.

  4. Does anybody know why the new Yamato Takeru evolution is ranked as a S ranked farming lead? Are they referring to a row based team (Wouldn’t this play similarly to a pandora team?) or some kind of button team for 10x farming? I notice in their sample templates for him they pair him with a friend Yamato, but is a friend shiva dragon not always better? He’s my first pull and I can’t wait for his evolution to come to NA, but i’m confused as to why such a row based team would be faster for farming than TPA based ones.

    • – He’s the best poverty alternative to ROdin.
      – He’s not restricted to god types like Shiva Dragon (mostly for Goemon and Surtr).
      – He leads the best pre-inheritance Thieves’ Den team.
      – Can still clear trash with 4 orbs.

You’re also looking at the team template page which isn’t for farming. Rows are better than TPAs for more advanced farming.

      • I’m so sorry i didn’t quite understand your first 3 bulletin points (too noob :/) Are you saying in point two, you would have access to subs like awoken leilan that are not god type? I’m sure this is obvious to everyone else but when you refer to “ROdin”, and “best pre-inheritance Thieve’s Den team”, could you spell out the teams you’re referring to?

        • I listed Goemon and Surtr… that’s really all that’s relevant.

Yamato / 3x ROdin / Surtr / ROdin friend, all ROdins having enough +ATK to one-shot water ogres.

  5. So if I only have Radra right now, and am only moderately iap, is there any use in buying other MP dragons to strengthen my current box, or should i just save up for the new wave of drags?

    Like

      • I was originally thinking yomidra because my dark box is stacked and she would give me a good unbindable bind-removal tool (I don’t have Typhon) for Arena. But then again, I know that these MP drags are on their way out. Alternatively, I could invest in a XM system or whatever else they’re coming out with in the future.

  6. I have been wondering for a while, is the rating system based on Arena 2 clear rates?
Currently which team has the highest clear rate if anyone knows.

        • I mean, lightning is popular, not amazing. It clears everything, just less consistently than other stuff. People liking things, and things being considered the best are very different things.

  7. Hey setsu, first of all thanks for putting up these posts as I’ve really learned a lot from reading your articles. I’m wondering how you think the PADR dragons will affect the MP dragons’ tier placements. It seems like Zeus and Hera dragons might allow for consistent clearings of Arena 2 for Ra and Yomi dragons, but I really would like to hear what you have to say. Thanks again

    • They probably won’t have any effect. On paper, 1.5x HP seems like the solution to so many problems, but in practice losing 50% RCV is too much of a sacrifice; it’s the healing that made them so strong in the first place. Typical MP Dragon teams have such poor base RCV that they were barely healing to full with 2.25x. Now imagine that’s halved and you’re trying to recover from a 99% gravity to survive a 20k+ hit next turn. Skill inheritance has also negated the utility of their hybrid actives.

At best they’re a niche leader pair to get past very specific dungeons. They’ll be best utilized as poverty leads for people that have no better options.

  8. Great post as always, Setsu.

I haven’t been following JP too much, but Ichigo’s placement here seems to be carried by AppMedia. He doesn’t seem to be an elite end game leader. He’s similar to that of Lightning, Yuna, and Sephiroth, all of which don’t seem to be that impressive as leads. I wonder if it will change soon.

Are people using Lightning a lot as a Ra-Drag sub for arena 2? I’m wondering if I should be rolling for Lightning for sub usage, or just trying for Rukia/holding onto my stones.

    Like

    • I’m considering lowering AppMedia’s weight in the aggregate list.

I doubt people are using Lightning on Ra Dragon. She’s neither god nor bind immune. She’s great for inheritance, though.

    • For mono-light teams, I’d recommend leading with either Awoken Amaterasu or Sun Wukong with Sun Wukong having more options.

Awoken Amaterasu team: Awoken Amaterasu, Sun Wukong, Elia, Valkyrie, NY Sandalphon

Sun Wukong team: Sun Wukong, Alcyone, Elia, Cloud, Apocalypse. You can bring in Ars Nova when you want an enhance for burst.

You can also make an Awoken Venus team using subs from the Sun Wukong team when against a mostly Light, Dark, or Water dungeon.

  10. Thanks as always for the great posts!

For a Xiang Mei team (with only one of her), do you think 2x Uriel, Gadius, NY Mitsuki is good, or is Mamiya over Mitsuki better?

Do you think you’ll buy multiple Xiang Mei (pending info on new Four Gentlemen)?

    Like

      • Thanks, that was what I was expecting. I figure a second Gadius when SBR isn’t needed is probably the best most of the time.

        Like

        • To expand on my answer, NY Mitsuki will probably see more use overall, but since the team has so few sub options to begin with, if you actually have one of the better ones you should at least have Mamiya leveled and awoken.

Oh, and saying Mitsuki is better is based off the assumption that the team doesn’t really need many fire orbs to do damage. Although my assumption could be wrong, or become wrong.

  11. Hey Setsu just wondering your opinion on Rukia, and to an extent, the other collab leaders as well. It seems like the collab leads’ popularity is often short lived, but Rukia seems to be doing pretty well. Would that be evaluated with her ideal subs or just the card in general? In your opinion do you think Scheat is necessary for her to do well or is that just a luxury?

    Like

    • I think it’s pretty safe to apply all your questions about Rukia and imagine they were applied to Bastet a few months instead (you can equate Scheat to Vishnu). In other words, she should be good for a long time regardless of what else happens in the game, but other leaders, probably of the MP variety, could mean her time as an elite leader could be short lived.

As for popularity, of course it will be short lived since so few people have the cards and they eventually move on. I’d say Raoh is the exception since he’s good for most applications and can also be paired with Freyr.

  12. Is there any point in getting a Neptune Dragon if I already have shivadra and YomiDra? I have almost all the subs (no blonia or orochi). Does it give me access to anything the other 2 don’t already? Do you have any experience with him? It’s just sad because my blue box is stacked and a lot of cards are max skilled, just nothing to lead with.

    • A better question is thinking of what you would possibly want to use it for and whether it’s worth the investment. In all likelihood: probably not.

  13. Hi setsu, are you planning on doing an analysis/translate some JP data on the plus egg efficiency for the upcoming event? With some multiplayer dungeons transferred to technical and 2x drop rate on coin dungeons like Draggie, Kanetsugu probably won’t be the go to this time–I’m curious what you think.

  14. Hi Setsu,

First off, thank you Setsu for all your informative posts. It has definitely helped me with my PAD playing experience.

My questions: Are there any dupes in my box that I can consider selling? I kinda want to get Ra chicken, but only have d.kali and a.isis. The are not hypermax but I have 1 297+ on standby for dkali and will work on Isis. I also have an A. Susano (replace indra). While I do sound like I want to get it soon, I will wait if I need to. Definitely going to by a few stones for the next PCGF.

    My info:
    Rank 355
IAP Light ($20 every few months)
    240K MP
Team: A. Bastet (subs vary depending on dungon but usually 2 meimei, liubei, verd)
    A. Shiva (set, urd, a leilan, aries)
