Special REM Review – June Bride

This REM has me questioning if there’s ever a point where it’s acceptable for the average player to roll in a seasonal REM from a value standpoint. For so long it was easy to just assume that these were full of garbage except for a chase card or two at the highest rarities, resulting in extremely poor value for one’s stones. Well, the June Bride REM is GungHo’s best attempt at proving that assumption wrong. While the REM is once again plagued with rehashes and palette swaps, there are a handful that are powerful enough to overlook the unoriginality — namely Eschamali, Gadius and Akechi. The fact that they’re great subs on Miru heightens the overall value as she’s farmable and currently one of the best leaders in the game. There’s even some value for new players in Bastet and Ra and to be honest, I wouldn’t mind more Ras for skill inheritance. With so many positives, is it enough to finally recommend rolling?

Well, once you actually see the rates, any ideas of value fly out the window. For an idea of the odds, Flandre’s post at PF is a good starting point. He documents his own rolling experience in the first post and follows it up with some Twitter testimonials from some JP whales. You’re free to interpret those numbers as you please, but it’s undeniable that rates are “shit, as usual”. Perhaps the nail in the coffin is that Akechi’s rarity appears to be more like a 6-star than a 5-star. It just feels like a huge ruse putting him at 5-star; if he was actually as common as the trash eggs Ruka and Kano then I might feel better about recommending rolling this REM. Different rates at the same rarity seems to be a trend as Sasuke seemed to be rarer than Theuriga in the Academy REM; similarly with Hanzo vs. Mitsuki in the New Year’s REM. Combining this with the fact that none of the silvers are must-haves, rolling this REM is too risky. GungHo might be getting better at making special REM lineups superficially more attractive, but in the end, the value still isn’t there due to the rates continuing to be horrendous and, quite frankly, misleading.

I’m scared and I wish those trying for Eschamali good luck.

Eschamali – A+
2949 - Saintly Bell Bride, Eschamali

Pros

  • Hard to go wrong with an Eschamali variant
  • One of best per-sub damage increases in the game
  • A viable leader with a few leader pair options
  • Potential MZeus sub/SI (?)

Cons

  • Lacks a leader to fully showcase her abilities as a sub
Notes
Eschamali represents not only one of the largest damage increases that a single sub can contribute, but one that can fit on almost every type of team due to orb enhances being compatible with all other offensive mechanics. On some teams, her active is either counterintuitive — like on heart-based teams like Miru — or can destroy activation altogether — like on rainbow teams like Ra Dragon — but just the pure damage from her OEs can still make her an attractive option even if she’s not an ideal one. This combination of power and flexibility shouldn’t be underrated. However, PAD cards can’t be evaluated in a vacuum and most of their worth is predicated on their sub pool as a lead or available leaders and synergies as a sub, both in the context of the endgame. Unfortunately, while light Eschamali is every bit the powerhouse her dark original is, there aren’t many outstanding endgame applications as either a sub or leader.

Sadly, today’s elite leaders don’t have much use for her mainly due to her active. She doesn’t fit on color-match teams like Ra Dragon, Sherias Roots, Sakuya, and Ra for obvious reasons. While you can make her fit on Miru, she’s only worth the work if you really need the extra damage which is unlikely save for places like Arena 3 and Annihilation dungeons. This leaves leaders like DQXQ and Xiu Min who are fantastic options, but aren’t exactly defining the endgame meta. Of course, she can see use on MZeus, but as I’m no co-op expert I’ll refrain from speculating.

As a leader, she’s better than her dark counterpart due to the upgraded leader skill, but is far from outstanding. The match-five mechanic is still there, but her static buff now affects both machines and gods and boosts ATK and HP — instead of RCV — for them by 1.5. While I believe the swap from RCV to HP to be a slight downgrade, the inclusion of gods opens the door for a variety of leader pair and sub options which is the main selling point of this version. The obvious match-five pairs are Alcyone (1.5/30/2.5 for machines and gods) and the recently buffed light Izanagi (1.5/31.5/1.5 for gods) which results in solid, if unimpressive teams. When paired with herself, she’s at a bit of a disadvantage in longer, grindier dungeons due to the lack of an RCV multiplier. However, her greatest strength can help combat that weakness; being able to output consistently high damage thanks to the skyfall buff means she’ll rarely have to tank a hit since you can sweep every floor. In situations where she can’t, a full heal from Amaterasu will usually suffice. This leaves only the hardest dungeons in the game, like Arena 3 or even Arena 2, out of her reach. Certain situations like in Arena 1 can also be a bit awkward at times (think Lifive into DQ Hera preemptives).

So, what we’re left with is an extremely powerful card with many potential homes, but no elite ones. For this reason I can’t give her the S rating that she otherwise deserves. However, it wouldn’t take much to raise her to elite status; since it’s almost inconceivable that she’d receive buffs herself, that change would likely come in the form of a new or updated leader. Even a slight buff to something like Xiu Min would do the trick. So if you roll her, but don’t have an immediate use for her, you can rest assured that she’ll almost certainly be relevant in the future. Eschamali is perhaps the best value that a seasonal REM has given us at 8-star to date.

Gadius – B+
2950 - Scampering Newlywed, Gadius

Pros

  • Comes with upgraded leader skill, basically Xiang Mei-lite
  • An important utility option for Miru teams
  • Now has a skill boost

Cons

  • Traded in a devil killer for that skill boost
  • It’s still Gadius
Notes
When you consider the upgraded Gadius leader skill — now grants 1.35x HP to dragons — I believe this light version of Gadius is a slightly better leader than the original fire one. Outside the classic light-has-no-elemental-weakness argument, I believe light has the superior sub pool. Both forms have access to similar heartmakers — Uriel, Yamato and Sanada vs. DQXQ, Wukong and light Akechi — and two-color board combinations so they’re pretty much at parity in that respect. However, the DQXQ + Apocalypse orb change combination is particularly attractive because they both have dragon type to qualify for the HP multiplier. On top of that, DQXQ can also combo with Gadius’s board change. Fire can emulate this with Uriel, but Saria either needs to be inherited or run off-color. Light also has better utility options in shields, gravities and bind clearers. Despite these small gains, Gadius is still Gadius and he’s still far from making waves in the endgame.

As a sub, light Gadius is a great utility option for Miru teams, providing both bind clear utility, respectable awakenings and a usable active, similar to the role fire Gadius plays on Xiang Mei. Although outside of that, he won’t see much use as four-color board changes are difficult to utilize effectively.

7-Star Gold Eggs

Satsuki – A-
2951 - Innocent Newlywed, Satsuki

Pros

  • Comes with upgraded leader skill
  • One of the strongest light-TPA subs
  • A good sub option for Cloud and Superman farming teams

Cons

  • Still an underwhelming leader even if her sub pool has improved
  • Lacks an elite endgame home outside Miru
Notes
Similar to Gadius, Satsuki also got a leader skill upgrade. Instead of subs needing to be both dragon and attacker to get both leader skill bonuses, they now only have to be one of those types. While this significantly increases the number of cards that can sub for her effectively, the main problem still remains: combining TPAs with an underwhelming ATK multiplier yields poor results. At best she’s a farming lead, but is far from optimal in that respect. There’s also the possibility of pairing her with Superman or Cloud to give them a bit of sustainability through her RCV multiplier, but it also restricts both teams to attackers only.

As a sub, she has more applications than her dark counterpart due to light being more TPA-friendly. Similar to Eschamali, she’s not all that compatible with light’s rainbow teams due to breaking a critical color, but she’s a good fit on farming teams that can be built around TPAs like Cloud and Superman. She gets extra credit for being able to combo with Superman’s board change; light already had good water to light orb change options in Baal and Wukong, but Satsuki presents a good TPA option.

6-Star Gold Eggs

Grades are given relative to monsters of the same rarity.

Bastet – A-
2952 - Lovely Bride, Bastet

Pros

  • An amazing starting roll
  • More valuable the newer you are

Cons

  • Far past her endgame prime
  • Still useless as a sub
  • Not great for those that already have her
Notes
I’m disappointed that both Bastet and Ra are straight palette swaps. It would’ve been exciting for them to get buffs and be endgame relevant again, but I guess we can’t expect much else from 6-stars if they aren’t even willing to give notable upgrades to 7-stars. Bastet is long past her prime, but having a light reskin is certainly intriguing. Light has been slowly accumulating quality TPA options, perhaps this REM’s Satsuki being the best, but there’s also Apollo, Kanna, Mini Valk, Ariel, and even something like Wukong or Orpharion; the list goes on and on. Nothing quite on Vishnu’s level, but still a solid pool. Light also has better utility options than wood, especially in the form of gravities and shields. No one will consider her a desirable roll on the merits of her stats alone, but just being a great leader is way more than one can usually say about most 6-stars from a special REM.

Ra – A
2953 - Passionate Sun Deity, Ra

Pros

  • One of the most useful utility actives in the game
  • Fire makes him more valuable for farming
  • Enables roller to be carried in MZeus

Cons

  • Fire-main is slightly worse as a leader
Notes
Ra is pretty much in the same situation as Bastet, but where both Bastets are basically on the same level, I’d say this Ra is slightly worse as a leader. The main reason would be the lack of a fire equivalent of LKali (although that can change if we get Horus Ace); while Ra has always run off-color subs and thrived, it’s still a slight disadvantage that the cards that do much of the heavy lifting damage-wise are now off-color. Although one could say that disadvantage is offset by the fact that RKali is on-color. It’s unfortunate that Gainaut isn’t a god or devil, but he’s still a decent farmable option. Anyways, Ra is still a great leader, even in this form.

However, at least for a player like me, his main value is in his active skill for skill inheritance. I have five Awoken Ras, use all of them frequently and wish I had more. If anything, if I pick up a few Ras en route to what is hopefully a light Eschamali, that’s virtually free value as most 6-stars from this type of REM that aren’t immediate sold usually just collect dust. There’s also value in this version having fire as his main element. Fire has long been the element of farming and this makes him all the more valuable in that capacity, especially since he’ll now deal more damage off of a full-fire board.

One last, somewhat niche factor to consider is his potential compatibility with the MZeus carry team. Directly rolling an Awoken Ra can serve as a huge kickstart for a new account, enabling it to acquire MZeus with that much less effort. This might be a good opportunity for those looking to restart or make an alt. It might actually be worth it for a brand new player to reroll this REM, too, and Bastet only sweetens the pot.

5-Star Gold Eggs

Grades are given relative to monsters of the same rarity.

Akechi – S
2954 - Deeply in Love Newlywed, Akechi Mitsuhide

Pros

  • Perhaps the best 5-star from a seasonal REM ever
  • Relevant skill for Miru and MZeus teams

Cons

  • Limited to four awakenings (albeit good ones, but uevo when?)
Notes
I’m always thankful when GungHo gives us a great card at 5-star or lower, but this time they gave us an amazing one in light Akechi. The original Akechi’s been an all-star in dark for a long time now despite lacking a uevo. Mainly due to the dark orb enhance on top of his orb change. His light version might be even more valuable, proving to be a good sub and even better skill inheritance assist on teams like Miru and MZeus. Being able to create a full enhanced light board with Ilm looks like it could be quite valuable for MZeus, kind of like how Mori and Sanada already are. He also combos well with Superman and Saria board changes. The presence of this card alone makes rolling this REM worth considering; just remember if you’re rolling specifically for him that he’s likely less common than his other 5-star brethren (it appears he’s closer to 6-star in rarity).

Ruka – C-
2955 - Saintly Ocean Newlywed, Ruka

Pros

  • None

Cons

  • A slightly upgraded sticker girl is still bad
Notes
The sticker girls haven’t been relevant for a long time, if they ever were, but unlike New Year’s Mitsuki who got some very respectable upgrades with her 5-star, seasonal REM version, Ruka and Kano barely got anything. Auto-heals have always had questionable value and while the skill boost is nice, it’s nowhere close to what Mitsuki got with her machine killer and one turn of haste. Her most relevant use might be as a poverty sub for heart-based leads like Sumire and Lakshmi.

Kano – C
2956 - White Kimono Bride, Kano

Pros

  • None

Cons

  • A slightly upgraded sticker girl is still bad
Notes
Everything that applies to Ruka also applies to Kano. In this case she can be a poverty sub for heart-based leads like Kaede or Parvati (or Fafnir). She also isn’t the worst Astaroth sub, those auto-heals being at their most useful on a team with high HP, but no RCV multiplier.

4-Star Silver Eggs

Grades are given relative to monsters of the same rarity.

Dark Izanami – A
2957 - Dawn Bride, Izanami

Pros

  • DIza’s skill is amazing no matter what the card is…

Cons

  • …unfortunately she’s only a 4-star, meaning we still can’t use it for inheritance
Notes
Izanami is about as good as it gets for a silver egg. Her original, dark form was once one of the best subs in the game, but her value has dwindled over time with less teams needing the shield due to innate tankiness or relying on the co-op HP bonus instead. However, it’s not like those situations where she was great have disappeared from the game so there’s still use for her, it’s just that an upgraded version isn’t as exciting as it would’ve been a few months ago.

Sopdet – B+
2958 - Pure and Innocent Bride, Sopdet

Pros

  • A good chance to pick up this leader skill before Halloween

Cons

  • Very few uses outside niche leader roles
Notes
Halloween Thoth & Sopdet are one of my favorite special REM silvers of all time and this is a simple recolor. One of their best uses was for taking on no-awakening dungeons, the time extension in their leader skill being exempt from the restriction and time making the experience at least bearable. That’s a fairly niche use, though, one that is having less relevance as the game seems to be avoiding overbearing restrictions (and there’s also Miru now). I also use them for clearing 7×6’s and S-ranking random dungeons with an Anubis pair. There’s also something to be said about the resist awakenings, but in what seems to be a growing theme, the extra tankiness of leaders and the co-op HP bonus makes them less relevant.

Echidna – B-
2959 - Crimson Lotus Bride, Echidna

Pros

  • An improved Echidna
  • Can go with your June Ra for MZeus carries

Cons

  • Echidnas have waning value, especially with skill inheritance
Notes
Another Echidna? This one is more offensive-oriented than the Christmas version, trading in the heart enhances for fire orb enhances. It’s hard to deny the usefulness of a delay, but considering how easy it is to get her farmable form, I can’t say this version represents good value even if she is upgraded. For those that roll Ra and want MZeus carries, it’d probably be a good idea to keep a few of these around for that purpose.

Cinderella – B
2960 - Miracle Heroine, Cinderella

Pros

  • Solid for a silver

Cons

  • Making a slight change to her leader skill doesn’t make her anymore exciting
Notes
Speaking of familiar faces, we just got another Cinderella in the Academy REM. Once again, she’s pretty useful as a sub for a silver, but is unexciting since any experienced player likely rolled her original already. Perhaps the most annoying thing is that NA still has no skill up fodder for her. At the very least she’s a good Miru sub considering she’s a silver.

Lilith – C
2961 - Covenant Witch, Lilith

Pros

  • None

Cons

  • Basically an attacker Lilith with a changed leader skill that still sucks
Notes
When I first started the game, I remember valuing poisoners due to their ability to farm the various high-defense monsters in the game. However, times have changed and it’s no challenge for a newbie to have a leader capable of piercing that same defense with the various powercreeped leaders. She would’ve been much more appealing had she been given a skill boost, but I guess that’s asking too much.

Conclusion

After taking a look at each card in depth I still believe this is still the best seasonal REM lineup we’ve ever gotten, but it seems like no lineup can overcome the horrendous rates. When a godfest gives you about a 70-80% chance at a gold egg and a 40-50% chance at a featured god, but a seasonal REM has less than 15% chance of yielding any gold egg, the only point where it makes sense to roll is if at least one of these applies to you: a) you have everything from the normal REM already, b) you IAP or c) something is critical for a team. For those considering rolling because of (c) and it’s for Akechi, just know that he may be more difficult to obtain that his 5-star rarity might lead you to believe. For those where it’s Eschamali, well, good luck.

I’m conflicted on how much I’m going to roll. I usually put at least two packs into every seasonal REM, but I could easily see this one getting away from me in the inane chase for Eschamali. I’m hoping I can cap this at five packs, hopefully saving some money for the Summer REM and picking up a few Akechis and Ras along the way. Eschamali is highly desired, but I won’t travel too far down the rabbit hole chasing her (hopefully).

  1. Definitely feeling the wallet side of things this time around, used the last of my F2P stones during Academy. Might have to dip into that deep dark pool of IAP again, something I’ve only ever done once, during the 4x GFE godfest. Choices, choices.

Definitely could use that Akechi and Ra though. I only have one Awoken Ra and I’m too attached to him to inherit, LL Ra was my first real lead.

  2. I’m non-iap, but I really want to pull, since I have a solid light box, and a MZeus, so this rem could really help me out if I get Akechi or Eschamali, or maybe even a Gadius. However, a collab is collab, and the rates are horrible. Anyways, I’m hoping for some Sasuke-level luck, and getting Eschamali first pull, but that’s just wishful thinking. Good luck to you too Setsu.

  3. You mention that Ra can be carried in Machine Zeus as one of its pros. But is that actually a thing in NA? Without having to pay for it of course.

    • I know there are various people that will carry you for free if you ask around enough. I won’t say who if only to prevent them from being inundated with requests, but the various co-op Discords are probably a good place to start. I don’t really keep track of this kind of thing so the only person I know you have to pay for is Yuki, but I think it’s well worth it since you’re basically paying a roll’s worth of stones for what is probably the best lead in the game.

      Like

      • Well, please let us know if you’re ever going to carry people 😛

The thing about having to pay is that many of us don’t have the means to send money. I would gladly transfer 5 stones, but unfortunately we can’t do that.

I’m making the new version team now; I’ll probably just ask for presents or BFF invites since setting up payment options is a hassle

  4. That’s pretty disappointing if true, re: the Akechi (and Sasuke) rates. The point of the *-rarity is to be a measure of how rare a card is, so it feels incredibly disingenuous if GH really is weighting cards differently on purpose.

I’ll be rolling for Izanami and Sopdet – I still regret not collecting Dark Sopdet (Halloween can’t come soon enough, but I won’t be surprised if she’s outdated by the time it does…) – and then calling it quits. Hopefully it doesn’t take too many tries for the two of them.

Good luck to anyone aiming for the golds!

    • I thought this was common knowledge; pantheon gods (not featured in gf) are mostly 5 star just like Knights (Muse etc) and PADZ garbage…and we all know which ones appear more often

      Like

      • Whether what you say is true or not, that’s not really the point as we aren’t talking about the standard REM. In the past, for collab and seasonal REMs specifically, there was a reasonable expectation that all cards at a given rarity would appear at the same rate, those with less stars being more common than those with more. There’s a fair amount of data pointing towards this being true. In other words, there was a certain expectation building up to this point. So when they betray that expectation, I guess it can’t be called false advertisement as they’ve never actually published their actual rates, but it’s difficult to call it anything but scummy. I mean, at this point, what’s the point of even having a star-rarity system besides being a parameter for skill inheritance?

Anyways, there would be no problem if they actually published their rates. Since they don’t people are left guessing, resulting in inevitable confusion. I was surprised that Granblue Fantasy actually did publish their gacha rates and I wish PAD would do the same.

        Like

        • Yeah, basically exactly this.

Since one of the three whales did have Akechi rates that were similar to the other 5*s, I hope that somehow the other two just ended up on the “wrong” end of variance (unlikely as that might be).

They must know that people collect data to come up with estimated gacha rates though, so if they were giving different rates to cards in the same rarity level, people would figure it out after a few events, and I’d imagine there would be a decent amount of community uproar. But who knows, we’re all suckers for waifus with new art, so maybe not.

  5. Well, this REM is so perfect for my friend that it’s almost funny. He started about 2 months ago, and has been progressing slowly, mostly with free stones. He said he was gonna spend some money for the PCGF, and I was execting a pack because I’m a former whale, but he bought 12… stones. XD

He got Thor though, and he’s been making progress. And wouldn’t you know it, an all light REM…

Let’s go down the list of recommended cards for newbies: Poison? Check, and on color too. Delay? Check, and again, on color. Shield? Check, and one of the best shields in the game to boot. Unbindable bind clearer? Check. The only silver that’s meh for him is Thothdet, and TBH, those are some GOOD awakenings for a 4*, even ignoring the shield which is largely, but not always, useless.

And if he lucks out, and gets a non-sticker gold, then he either ends up with a better leader than non-awoken (and possibly even awoken) Thor, or an AWESOME sub for Thor. Win, win, win.

I’m rolling for Akechi. Hopefully I get him in one pack, but I’m willing to go two or three. I’m encouraging my friend to buy a 30 stone pack for this, as it’ll be a solid investment IMO.

I actually have a bit of a question Setsu. For my friend, do you think that it’s better to roll here to form the basis of an ACTUAL team for a leader with good endgame potential, or roll the normal REM during GF for a leader (or subs) that might have slightly better endgame potential. It’s RNG either way, and my logic is that the trolls here are very useful building blocks of an actual team, and are all but GUARANTEED rolls, but any trolls in the normal REM are much less useful, such as cyber and fruit dragons. (Which CAN be good, but let’s be real here.)

    • Also, side note. Talking about OTPRa: “The main reason would be the lack of a fire equivalent of LKali”

You seem to be forgetting about Horus Ace: http://puzzledragonx.com/en/monster.asp?n=2927

LKali board change, fire main, good stats/awakenings, all in all, a fire LKali basically.

OTP.Ra/Horus Ace/Horus Ace/RKali/AIsis seems pretty good. At least as good as the original Ra, and maybe better since in this case DKali is now on color. (Also, farmable red DKali board in the form of Gainaut, though he IS off type.)

      Like

      • You’re right, I’ll add a note about Horus Ace. The PAD X cards are translated, but it’s still up in the air whether we’ll get it since I don’t think the game is currently set for release outside Japan (or at least I couldn’t find anything). I’d be surprised if we didn’t get them eventually, though.

    • Good luck rolling Akechi.

Yeah, like you said, either way it’s RNG, but for a newer player I always advocate rolling for value to make the transition to future teams smoother. So that usually means rolling in the standard REM. In your friend’s specific case, this particular REM is tempting, but when you think about it, is it really that good in the long term or just convenient right now? The silvers all have immediate applications, but outside maybe Cinderella they aren’t really long term solutions. The potential of landing one of the great gold eggs in this REM can’t be ignored, but the chances are so low that I have a hard time considering them a major factor in the decision. I guess if you feel like your friend might get discouraged for whatever reason and needs some toys to work with, then maybe it’d be worth rolling in the June REM. Otherwise I’d probably pass.

      Like

      • Hmm. Yeah, you’re right. I’ll still have them give a yolo roll or two for instant (probably) value, but you’re right that the normal REM will likely provide better overall value. Thanks for the advice, I’ll pass it on.

  9. What are your thoughts on using Bride Izanami as a shield option for rainbow teams? I figure rolling for her is somewhat realistic and could be better for Sakuya, DQXQ etc. versus DIza. Good luck on rolling!

    Like

    • Yeah, I think that’s a great use for her, especially on light-based teams. I was a bit down on her in my review due to her not being “meta” anymore, but she’s still incredibly strong and very strong for a silver.

One thing to think about before swapping her for DIza is your dark coverage. That obviously doesn’t matter on Sakuya and DQXQ doesn’t absolutely need dark coverage, but it’s something to think about. Good luck to you, too!

But the part that really intrigues me is how geared toward Miru this REM is. I’m sure Gungho didn’t intend for it, but a lot of the subs on this roster are good for what will probably be the best farmable in the game for a GOOD amount of time.
With that said, would you bring back farmable monster analysis for one time just for Miru? 🙂
Also, I thought there was some good freaking art for this REM (just my Opinion) (Satsuki, Akechi, and Eschamali to me has some nice art). Seeing in past REMs you like to comment on the art, (i.e. NY Rem and Kanna) what do you think of the art this REM (just for fun)

    • I’d say this REM is a lot closer to Bleach than Shinrabansho. In the long run it might even be better than Bleach since most of that collab’s value was in leaders which tend to fall off in a few months due to power creep, but Eschamali and Akechi should be relevant subs for much longer.

I wasn’t planning on writing anything about Miru, but I’ll certainly consider it for the reason you stated: she’ll probably be the best farmable lead we have for a long time.

I purposely avoided discussion of art and the term waifu in this review since I just wanted to avoid any… complications that might arise from it. Especially this time since that’s the focus of the REM. I know just from casual chat that a lot of the art is fairly polarizing. I personally like Satsuki a lot and I have a strange fondness for Kano (although I might have a change of heart after rolling since she’s one of the troll golds).

  13. I can probably say a few things about the high level coop meta and how these cards fit in.

You hit the mark right on with Akechi being by far the best roll of the entire REM. I dont think much needs to be said on the potential power of an Akechi inherit on Baal for MZeus.

Eschamali is where it gets more intresting though. The thing is, there are as of now no dungeon that is hard enough to ever warrant using light eschamali on an mzeus team.
The current co-op meta is focused on stacking SB and guaranteed orb changers as inherits. Things like Baal and Vaan dominate right now because MZeus has such a high multipler that damage enhances are uncessary. Unfortunately, escha’s 1 SB means that it is unlikely to see use as a sub.
As an inherit, let us compare eschamali to alcyone and apollo. I will argue that alcyone is ALWAYS superior when playing mzeus. This is because Mzeus teams are designed for farming, where skyfall buffs are always bad. (Because you just wind up wasting time) If for some reason you do need skyfall buff, Apollo works just as well.

  14. I’m not too concerned about value as I’m purely rolling for the art. Skipped both PCGF and Academy so I could save up some stones (almost at 100 now). Ready to be burned by silver eggs galore, and Kano/Ruka!

  15. Akechi is definitely more rare than the other 2 5*. On jp 1 pack got me ra, bastet, and satsuki. Tried 2nd pack for akechi but only 1 ra then I stoped. Hopefully I can get those + akechi on na in 2 pack.

Also what is miru’s optimal subs?

  16. NY Kanna Dejavu!
I will roll for the full series again and can only pray for better rates than the ones posted in the link. One time lucky, pls 😀
I don’t think I will have the patience and stamina to roll as much though as some of the results posted.

  17. Opened with a Bastet. Took a pack and a half to finally get Akechi. Only other golds in between were two Kano’s. Was hoping for a Ra for SI purposes, but happy to get one 6-star and one pseudo 6-star (Akechi).

  18. The gold egg appearance is horrible for this collab. I do think I lucked out though. I managed to get Eschamali on roll 87, and on the other 86 rolls I got 3 akechis, a passionate Ra, a satsuki, a ton of bastets (which was disappointing after a while..lol), and all of the silvers. I didn’t get a gadius in my rolls but I might buy him…might.

    • Congrats on the Eschamali! I didn’t get one, but I guess you can’t always get what you want. Maybe next year 🙂 The gold rate was not good, but at least mentally it felt better than Academy since 90% weren’t Theuriga (but I guess it’s not a big difference when most are Ruka or Kano).

  21. I just wanted Izanami and Sopdet, so I figured I’d roll a few times until I got them. Got Sopdet on my second roll, and a gold egg on my fourth…!!! …Ruka. Okay. She’s super cute. Bought a pack and figured I could save the remaining stones. First roll…gold!! Satsuki! Super excited since I like her art best of all of them, so yay~ Now I had a dilemma…quit while I’m ahead, or keep going until I got Izanami. I mean…she’s a silver, right? How hard could it be? But is she really worth it? Like really really? …broke down and decided to roll a few mores time for her.
Well Bastet (yay!), three more Rukas (not yay…), and infinite silvers that AREN’T Izanami later, I am down to two stones. Sigh. So basically I spent a whole pack chasing a silver, and DIDN’T GET HER. I haven’t succumbed to that frenzied “It’ll be the next roll!” feeling in while. I think maybe these chase silvers are actually more dangerous to me than the golds, because I’ve learned my lesson about them, but getting the silvers seems much more obtainable.

Anyway, I was still incredibly lucky to roll Satsuki and Bastet, so I’ll try not to think about the order of events too much, and the fact that I could still have ~50 extra stones right now if I’d just stopped at Bastet, and hopefully I’ll have re-learned to quit while ahead!

(Dumbest part is I already have Indra, which makes Izanami’s value even more questionable…)

    • Well congrats on the Satsuki! I think I like her art the best, too.

In the past I definitely had a hard time knowing when to stop rolling, but now that I’ve been playing this game for so long I find it easier to control myself since I can “wait until next year”. Who knows if PAD will be around that long or if I’ll still be playing, but just that thought makes it easier for me to not chase cards as hard.

      Like

      • Thanks! I’m not sure where I’ll use her, since I don’t even have a light team to begin with, but chasing these collab cards is never actually about playablilty anyway 😛

That’s a good mentality to have. For the normal REM, I’ve stopped feeling the “need” to roll for things immediately, since they aren’t going anywhere. I still regret not collecting a Halloween Thoth & Sopdet though, since their dark resists would go a long way toward making up for my lack of player skill against some of the scariest Arena 1 floors, which I think is why I try and collect the “good” silvers in collabs now. But (less than) a year later, now we have co-op, so maybe I don’t even need them, since that HP boost will do pretty much the same thing.

Basically, I guess the most important thing about PAD is to just be patient 😛

  22. I pulled gadius and satsuke and think both are fine adqxq options, not mentioned in the review vs a Miru team review focus.

In particular, gadius can in theory be unbindable row bind break that makes the hearts needed to break and the light orbs to make adqxq LS x100 row and go boom, which allows for dropping a.Ama as dedicated break and wood coverage, and running an arbitrarily open light/wood card, a.apollo one might default presume. (Provided the pilot is experienced comfortable at doing a bind break row into cascade versus a preemptive team-wide bind, taking the hardest case, which can certainly be done, but is a comfort/skill question.)

Satsuke vs Baal as light-dark for dark coverage on adqxq is probably a wash. Adqxq already brings anti-jammer/poison, but the triple TPA and the haste are fine attributes on a sub card. Baal has more rows, obviously, but x100 damage is already pretty bananas overkill. So cd7 + haste is the main attraction, vs baal’s cd8.

Great review on the whole. I got liza in 11 rolls with a bizarre lucky couple of golds and I am out. So out. Seasonal PEM rates. Shudder. The horror.

Saving up for NA to get the GFE machine. Even the misses there go to 15k MP a pop towards a Gentlemen store card, and are such vastly superior value to seasonal anything. It’s so crazy to roll a lot when that is upcoming, barring the whale who already has all the MP cards he or she wants, which to be fair, is legitimately quite some number of whales, and probably the Setsu case. All my respect to you. Best of luck if you hunt eschamali.

  23. Gadius is certainly a fine DQXQ sub, but his board change won’t reliably result in full activation. I think you want more from a sub slot. Satsuki is better and I should’ve mentioned that, but you don’t exactly have to have dark coverage on your DQXQ team, either.

    • It’s hard to know without knowing your full situation, but in most cases, no. However, the MP cards nowadays are pretty boring (just my opinion) and Miru is technically on the same level if not higher than all of them, so if you wanted you could think of buying Gadius like you were using that MP directly on Miru instead. Reco seems to like him a lot on the team, too, if that means anything to you. If you’re fully committed to the team then, yeah, I could see buying him.

        • He runs a few different setups. But usually Saria is on Gadius and Light Akechi is on Venus. It looks like he has Thumbelina on his Miru. Not sure about the friend Miru, but it looks like Lum.

  25. I think you should revaluate Wedding Gadius to A-.
On top of those facts you mentioned (MVP Miru sub and a damn good leader) light healers are lacking offensive board changer subs. The only others available are Light Kali (not fit for row teams, no light focus) and Raphael (nice in combination with a heart breaker, but AS should usually be saved for shield use), so he fills a pretty important niche.

    • Board changers aren’t really important anymore, or I guess I should specify, cards that come with a board change as their base skill don’t really get extra points anymore. Places where Awoken DQXQ won’t work, you can just use inheritance. Not to mention that four-color board changes are probably the worst type in the game. Not to mention that there really isn’t a relevant light healer team anymore. So given his status as a “nice to have” as a sub on a single team and being a fine but relatively mediocre leader, he got a B+. Not that any grade I give really matters, it’s more just a reference point for how positively or negatively I think of a card rather than something to take too seriously.

  26. I’m not sure if you’re still reading comments on this post but I do have an interesting streak of luck going on. On my account I had an excellent light box and ran a Saria team. I had some extra money, so I rolled a pack and got two Akechis, all silver cards, two Ras, and a Bastet. Then my phone was stolen, and all data I had concerning account recovery failed to back up. After mourning my account I transfered my fledgling account from my kindle on to my new phone. In an attempt to acquire a Ra or Bastet to jump-start the account, I rolled about twenty times. I not only rolled two Akechis, two Ras, and two Bastets, I also rolled an Eschamali and a Satsuki. You win some, you lose some I guess.
