Shiva Skill Ups Are So Fun!

I’ll always have something to complain about:

Me: Collabs don’t have skill ups!
GH: Here’s skill up fodder.
Me: The drop rates are cancer!
GH: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Me: Shitty collabs last too long!
GH: We’ll make it a week.
Me: Now there’s not enough time to farm skill ups!
GH: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As someone that has skilled up countless monsters, I thought I was over the whole complaining-about-the-rates thing. However, when the fodder drop rate is so low, going 0-fer is one of the worst feelings ever. I truly hope they find a better way to distribute collab skill up fodder, but considering almost every collab does it the same way now — Bleach, FF, FotNS, Shinrabansho, etc, etc — it’s unlikely to change.

Anyways, I’m almost hoping they never improve Shiva’s cooldown again as farming Dragon Stones is a living hell. To be honest, I’m glad I don’t have a Balancile, either; her fodder drop rate is basically the same as Sephiroth’s in the first iteration of the FF dungeon.


Shinrabansho Notes


Fourth roll; I’m done. I was recording, but I’m too lazy to make a video for such a short roll session for a relatively poor collab REM. I felt compelled to put forth at least minimal effort for an Athena variant and was willing to sacrifice a pack in the pursuit; now I have 13 remaining rolls with which to acquire Academy/June/Summer silvers.

I’m not going to do a full collab review for this since there really isn’t much to say, but I will make a few points:

  • In general, trying to roll Kiriko for Xiang Mei isn’t worth it. As is, she’s good, but not amazing and Saria makes her fairly irrelevant for SI. That could easily change with a uevo, but you should just wait to roll when that actually happens.
  • Sakuya, Athena and RSonia Another are all relatively weak and are mainly SI fodder for their somewhat unique actives. I guess they could have some niche relevancy in co-op.

He always felt semi-usable for a farmable. The best part is, there’s still time to skill him up during 2x drops in Shinrabansho on Sunday (we’ll almost certainly get 2.5x the next event, too). Luckily, I already paid my dues the last time the event came around:


After I cleaned out my box to make space for 10x, he was one of the few trash drops that I decided to keep which is fortunate. Now I just gotta uevo, level and awaken him; the +eggs are already taken care of, I’d hope. If Masterion really becomes a thing, I could see players feeding their old Zeus Stratios to him.

Let’s not overreact here, but in all seriousness, if you’re determined to be at the forefront of the game — especially if you already own a Yomi Dragon — it’s probably worth skilling one up. Arena 2 hasn’t been out for even a day yet so there will certainly be better teams for it by the time NA gets it — we don’t even know what the rest of the new MP Dragons will be like yet — but we may not get Shinrabansho again for another year (although it seems to be a half-yearly thing) so it’s better to be safe than sorry.

For other players, at least picking one up is a good idea as you’ll probably only need his gravity for the boss floor. You’d only want a skilled one for extremely fringe purposes, like trying to come back from an unlikely Kagutsuchi delay or to possibly help against resolves.

A few more notes:

  • It appears Lucifer, along with all true damage monsters, got some added value. Luci’s god killer also looks to be clutch. It looks like he’s going to be one of the best overall REM monsters in the game.
  • Monsters with dark resists, or any type of resist at all, become more attractive. Ark in particular looks like he could be useful, especially since the Shinrabansho silvers got another round of buffs.
  • One amusing point for Yomi Dragon teams is that Masterion enables the use of the team’s light sub-element through his single light orb enhance.

I wish JP luck in clearing out the new Arena and I’m looking forward to ripping off all their hard-earned team ideas.

Shinrabansho Skill Ups

I have to say that I enjoyed the new Shinrabansho dungeons because I could skill up so many monsters at once, but I can see it being an annoyance for those that are targeting one or two skill ups. It’s nice that they changed the dungeon to drop evolved fodder, but that’s actually not much consolation due to the way the drops are set up. The drop rate of a specific evolved fodder is significantly reduced both by sharing a floor with another and having a chance of a card dropping instead. Non-IAPers will likely still be stuck evolving fodder, but I guess anything that reduces that count is a good thing. Continue reading

Collab Review – Shinrabansho Choco

The Shinrabansho REM isn’t exciting. Just looking at their stats the gold eggs all seem pretty good. However, looking at how they’ve performed on JP none of them standout very much. They don’t fill any critical roles. Standard power creep has contributed to their devaluation. To make things worse, they aren’t particularly unique, all having reasonable or better replacements coming from the regular REM. They’ll be much more appealing once they get uevos, but who knows if NA will ever get them.

The silver eggs are average at best as their unbearably long cooldowns weigh them down. Most collab silver eggs are good low cost leads and these are above average, but that’s more of a consolation than anything. I really only see two reasons to roll in this collab: Kiriko and Ryuga; outside that there’s not a lot of value to be had in this REM. I’d advise against rolling.
