Disclaimer: The aggregate list is basically a compilation of the leader tier lists from three JP PAD sites: Game8, GameWith and AppMedia. The idea is that while a single tier list can have many points of contention, hopefully an aggregate can kind of smooth things over (it doesn’t, really, but it helps a bit). I try to keep my hands off the results as much as possible; the extent of my involvement is setting the algorithm to aggregate the results. I wish I could be fully hands off, but as none of the lists have 1:1 correlation in their grades, I have to have that much involvement. Don’t take these ratings as fact; I encourage you to simply take them as a starting point for discussion to figure out which leads are actually the best for your specific situation.

    • Ronove is a beast and it’s amazing how he stands when compared to super ra chicken bird and myr considering that what he lacks in awakenings and tankiness. His uevo will probably bring in a new era in pad and is imo the most flexible of the heart cross leads as it stands.

    • Who knows what AppMedia is thinking. I think Ronove was a bit overrated from the beginning, but I wouldn’t take his demotion as an indication of loss of power. There can only be so many cards at the top so with Ra Dragon proving to be so dominant once again, something had to give. With Myr proving to be the best overall heart-cross option, it doesn’t surprise me to see Ronove (or eventually Kaede) be bumped out of the top tier.

      • I’m surprised to hear you say that Myr is the “best overall heart-cross option.” I have nearly ideal teams for Kaede, Ronove, and Myr, and I find Myr to be the worst of the three. Her only advantage that I can see is that she is unbindable and she has more options for utility subs. (Well, that and team-building for her doesn’t require multiple 6-star GFE’s, but my understanding is that these rankings assume ideal teams.) But Ronove and Kaede both hit much harder and can be activated much more consistently. The consistent activation also means they don’t require nearly as much stalling. I just about tore my hair out using Myr on the one-shot challenge since I had to stall for hearts on basically every floor. For arena 3 farming, Kaede has the additional advantages of not needing to inherit a lazer for the predra floor and much better damage control. Sopdet and Parvati are trivial with Kaede, but really scary with Myr. A couple of my friends with ideal Kaede/Ronove teams feel the same way, which is why I was surprised to hear you say that Myr is the best heart-cross option. (I objected to Myr’s promotion to the top tier in the first place; see my comments below. I always thought it reflected more of her popularity than her actual power.)

        • Sure, there are trade-offs for every lead, but when it comes down to it Myr being bind immune and having a great bind immune team option is what puts her over the top.

If you want to argue the finer points, I can do that, too.

          >But Ronove and Kaede both hit much harder and can be activated much more consistently.
Yes, Ronove hits harder in return for having a lower shield. Kaede really doesn’t hit much harder than Myr especially when comparing apples to apples TPA teams.

Apples to oranges, but I’d say Ronove is about on par with activation consistency to Myr. However, Kaede requires 12 orbs to do decent damage (7 wood + 5 hearts) where Myr needs 9 (4 light + 5 hearts).

          >I just about tore my hair out using Myr on the one-shot challenge since I had to stall for hearts on basically every floor.
Not saying I’m the greatest player, but if you’re having problems with hearts I feel like there’s a problem with your team comp, playstyle and/or ability to clear trash orbs. An average board should have 5 hearts and 5 lights, after all.

          >For arena 3 farming, Kaede has the additional advantages of not needing to inherit a lazer for the predra floor and much better damage control.
With uevo Kanna, this really isn’t the case anymore. Can’t argue the damage control issue, but…

          >Sopdet and Parvati are trivial with Kaede, but really scary with Myr.
Sopdet is a bitch for Myr, but once you get used to it, she’s not all that bad. I don’t actually see any huge advantages Kaede has over Myr for Parvati.

We could go on and on, but I think you’re underestimating the value of Myr’s bind immunity, especially when taking into account these are JP lists who have always had a somewhat inordinate hard on for bind immunity. I think the fact that Kaede is still generally seen on par with Myr and Ra Dragon in spite of this is a testament to how strong she is otherwise.

  1. My personal opinion is that the recent changes in the tier lists are a good illustration of something I have said in the past: These rankings are heavily influenced by the popularity of a leader. More popular leads tend to be overrated and less popular leads are underrated. Obviously, stronger leads tend to be more popular, so it isn’t surprising that the most popular tends to be the most highly rated. But I think sometimes unpopular leads (particularly collab leads) are underrated as a result.

For example, I don’t see the rationale for ranking Myr below Ronove. I’ve played both leads a lot, and I find Ronove to be far superior. Ronove is a bit less tanky and has less utility sub options, but I find that be outweighed by the fact that he does far more damage and activation is much more consistent. But to give an even more egregious example, I find it more than a little weird that uuvo YomiDra is ranked by all three sites (game8 has him in their second tier) and Cecil unranked despite the fact that their multipliers are identical. I have used both leaders extensively, and I actually think Cecil is a better lead. He has a wider sub pool (not restricted to gods), he can more easily abuse a haste system for a supply of dark orbs (YomiDra basically has to rely on Eschamali), and he can use TPA’s to inflict much more damage. As an added bonus, he is one of the best (the best?) leader for solo arena 1 farming especially after getting his dark resist latents. Yes, one could might argue that YomiDra is better because he is unbindable and less orb hungry; I get that. My contention that Cecil is better is highly debatable. But it seems very weird that YomiDra is on game8’s second tier and Cecil isn’t even ranked when their multipliers are the same and a case can at least be made that Cecil is actually better.

    Like

    • I hit reply before I finished my final thought, which was that my guess is that this can be explained by the fact that YomiDra was one of the most popular leads in the game in the heyday of arena 1 farming and hence a sentimental favorite of many players, whereas Cecil is a 6-star collab roll that very few people own and hence doesn’t get much love. I don’t think you can justify such a huge disparity in rankings based on their abilities as leaders given that their multipliers are identical.

      Like

      • Cecil is way too orb hungry. Yomidra gets the same multiplier for a 5 match which opens way more room from just orb change subs not including the utility yomi dra herself brings.

        Like

      • I don’t think anyone can argue that popularity (and perhaps nostalgia now, as you mentioned with Yomi Dragon) influence the tier lists, but for the most part I think Game8 has been pretty accurate for almost the entire year so I’m willing to trust them on most decisions.

Myr is likely the best heart-cross lead in the game. Her damage is definitely capped compared to other top leads, but is more than sufficient with a June Akechi board usually being overkill for just about everything in the game. The rise of her TPA-based team has made her fast and consistent on top of sturdy. Said team can also be fully bind immune with little effort which is not something many other teams can boast of (aside from Ra Dragon who is, surprise, also one of the best leads in the game). Her biggest downside is damage control. Her supporters would argue that can be worked around, but there’s not doubt that it’s a huge weakness. Due to her accessibility, both in acquiring her and fielding a decent, easy to use team, she gets more credit than maybe she’s due, but over time I’ve dropped all other heart-cross leads and pretty much use Myr exclusively, only using the others if Myr has a considerably poor matchup.

As a Cecil main on JP, I really love him, but Yomi Dragon is undoubtedly better. Their max multipliers might be the same, but Yomi Dragon is much more consistent. It’s true that a regular Cecil team has no trouble with activation, but in endgame dungeons when you have to sacrifice orb generators for utility to address his weaknesses — namely low HP and binds — that consistency starts to go out the door. Yomi Dragon presenting decent damage at 5 orbs with higher HP (almost 2x base HP as Cecil) and bind immunity gives her a huge advantage. Maybe not as much as the tier lists might currently indicate, but it is significant. I, too, feel Cecil has been underrated, though, so I feel you.

        • Hey Setsu, what is said tpa Myr team that you use exclusively? Guessing from your latest box post: kanna/ariel/satsuki(/ariel)/apocalypse? What would your inherits be? (facet on kanna?) Any advice would be much appreciated <3!

          Like

          • Not necessarily exclusively, but I don’t really run the full row team anymore.

It varies from dungeon to dungeon, but, yes, those are usually the base subs I use with Paimon and Orpharion mixed in. If co-op, I’d probably run 2x Ariel for a 100% bind immune team.

Facet/Carat would be on Kanna, yes. The orb changers don’t really matter too much where they’re on, but I think right now I have DQXQ on Satsuki and Saria on Ariel.

The DC Collab came out today and I used 130 stones in hopes of getting Superman, but I got Knightmare Batman instead. Is Batman better than Superman in PAD?

  3. Is aizen really that good to place him in the same position as acala? He lacks a bit of damage n hp buff to do so.

    Like

      • I mean in comparison to acala. Not trying to downplay him in general. I never said he didn’t do enough damage. I am only comparing both in the same tier. I worded it horribly so my fault. I realize how stupid the post looks. However acala can hit quite a huge damage cap with enough crosses in comparison to aizen 576 cap.

        • He’s the easiest to activate 144x and 576x in the game. And even his flat multiplier is almost as good as the buffed Shiva Dragon. Consistency and the effort of activation (or lack thereof) means a lot.

          Like

          • Thank you for the swift reply. I don’t really want to hate him but I just hate that I want acala so bad. Now he exists and I want him too. I even have a good team for him and it’s driving me insane!

Any who keep up the good work on the site! Have a good day.

              Like

  4. I wonder why Revo Ra doesn’t show up on any of these when Revo Bastet does. Bastet has the same multiplier before actives (and a lower one afterwards), but Ra also has an (admittedly behind a super obscure condition that isn’t likely to matter) RCV multiplier, meaning you should actually be able to one-shot things and heal up on the same turn.

Not that I really think he’s on par with Halloween Sonia Gran/Roots or Sumire (or especially like Xiang Mei who isn’t even rated)

    Like

    • Looking at the three lists, Bastet appears on one (Game8) and Ra appears on one (AppMedia). I think they have it about right. Bastet probably gets in on Game8’s because the low-end of wood leads is relatively weak so she can sneak in.

  5. So Ronove is the second heart cross lead to fall (after BMyr)

I suppose this is a good sign. Still disappointed Nepdra didn’t turn out to be lead that tank-row leads needed. Furthermore, disturbed Revo Lak only spent less than month on the tier list. I guess it couldn’t be helped.

On a side note, Aizen got bind clear, TE, more HP, and RCV mult increase

-Bind clear is pretty good considering he’s unbindable
-Another TE certainly helps with the cross lead situation
-Extra 1000 HP (without plusses) isn’t a lot, but better
-RCV is nice, but not entirely necessary

Urahara got the much needed SBR. He might crawl back onto the farming tier list sometime
