Grading scale. The individual grade is a composite grade of all monsters in it relative to all other pantheons. The combined grade is a composite of all monsters in both pantheons relative to all other combinations of pantheons. Combined grades are not an average of the individual grades, but based on the normal distribution of all possible two-pantheon combinations.

This is a help thread, so please feel free to ask questions about just about anything concerning the godfest or your teams, box and progress in general.

In the past, it seemed like GungHo would up their godfest game whenever a PCGF was around the corner in an attempt to drain us of a few stones before the big event. Not so much this time as the lineups are pretty underwhelming. Maybe they all of a sudden hate money or maybe they’re trying to get out of the way of the FF Collab. Whatever the reason, it’s a shame that we didn’t get a quality godfest for those players whom the PCGF is not great for.

Anyways, here are the rules:

  • I will only take box questions that supply a PADherder. It makes it much, much easier for me to give good advice this way (you could say I can’t give good advice without the sorting options). Try PadListener to sync if you’re on Android (if it works for you), otherwise use this method.
  • Box/roll questions that don’t supply rank, IAP status and main teams will be ignored. Any other information you want to supply will only help.
  • Please check the FAQ after the break before asking a question. Questions that aren’t covered by the FAQ will be prioritized; questions that don’t may be ignored.
  • WordPress flags comments with multiple links. I still get the comment, I just have to approve it manually for it to show up on the site. So if your comment doesn’t show up, this might be the case.
  • I generally reply on a first come, first serve basis, but if there’s a low hanging fruit I’ll address that first.
  • I will post a comment in bold red when I stop taking questions for the day or end the post altogether. Please look for and respect these cutoffs before posting! I’ll allow questions after the day 1 cutoff to queue up for the next day, but no new questions will be taken after the day 2 cutoff.
  • No new questions will be taken after the godfest ends. Questions asked in other posts may be ignored; please wait for the next godfest!

This is FAQ is a work in progress.

  • I’m rank 200 or lower and low- or non-IAP, should I roll for X god? – In general, no. Even if the RNG gods blessed you and you just need that one god to perfect your team, early on you should be focusing on accumulating stones and waiting for a high-value godfest. You want to accumulate value to increase the overall quality of your box so you have more team options in the future; not only is the meta always shifting, but there’s no single team in the game that can clear all content. The Player’s Choice Godfest is generally the best value early on, but normal godfests can be plenty good nowadays depending on the combination. Pantheons that have a wide variety of uses like the Heroes, Chinese and Three Kingdoms are great. Minimizing dupe chances should also be a high priority. Also, don’t underestimate the effect the current gala can have on your rolls and be sure to factor in the GFEs that are omitted or have reduced chance (i.e. you want to maximize your chances to roll DKali).
  • Which MP Dragon should I buy? – This image isn’t perfect, but sums it up nicely. Credit for the image goes to fether from the subreddit. If there’s ever an updated version, please point me toward it.
  • Why is X monster rated higher than Y monster? – The monster ratings aren’t there to be an accurate, authoritative resource on a card’s power, but are more used as a ballpark estimate to give a relative idea of how useful a given card or pantheon is which is used to help evaluate godfests.
  • Why is the overall rating not an average of the lead and sub ratings? – Long story short, when grades are given using the normal distribution, cards that are both good as leaders and subs get a boost while ones that are bad as both get penalized. This is because most cards in the game are usually only good at one role, not both.

What a strange day. From the ratings, one would think it’s a pretty good day. It’s not bad, but everything feels so low impact, especially as I&I and Thor teams start to fall out of favor. As subs, the Norse are in a precarious situation as JP begins to shift toward burst teams that don’t need a damage enhancer (or like You Yu and Xiu Min, come preloaded with their own). For teams that still need it, the Gemstone Princesses combined with skill inheritance are usually better options. The Constellation 1s are solid, if unexciting, and got better now that skill up fodder is available on NA.

It’s somewhat interesting that the game has progressed to a point where the Chinese aren’t as amazing as they traditionally have been. Some of it is power creep, but a lot of it is due to the increasing number of quality board changers in the game; ones that generate hearts in particular. The Constellation 2 pantheon is as unimpressive as it’s always been.

    1. Does the fact that every pull comes out with +30 affect the quality of this Godfest? Would you say it would be better to sell pulled monsters to save up for something like Xiang Mei, or fuse them to speed up +297 farming?

    2. I have finally decided on working toward Rukia as my next team. What subs do you recommend I put on her team, given my box?

    • To clarify, the first question pertains to my box specifically. I have been rather slow in farming 10x descends due to life and laziness, and I’m not sure if this Godfest is the best remedy for that.

      • 1. Well, let’s do the math. One of the most stamina efficient ways to farm MP is through co-op Scarlet which yields somewhere around 760 to 790 MP per run (https://www.reddit.com/r/PuzzleAndDragons/comments/4fw7gr/). Let’s round it to 750 for easy math, which results in 30 MP per stamina.

        With +eggs, there will probably be a debate on which dungeon should be used, but let’s just use 9 stamina/egg for this argument as the more efficient options aren’t too common or are too slow.

        A +30 egg would equate to 270 stamina. A 3,000 MP silver egg would equate to 100 stamina, 5,000:166, 15,000:500, 50,000:1,666. So basically, if stones have no value to you, you can freely use non-GFE rolls for +eggs and be possibly be more “efficient” stamina-wise.

        However, what could you do with those stones if you used them for stamina instead? Let’s say you get 200 stamina per stone or 1,000 per REM roll. Using the same numbers, that would equate to 111 +eggs or 30,000 MP. Hopefully this disparity can convince you not be so lazy, especially when you can get about 400 +eggs in under an hour nowadays.

        Also keep in mind that REM eggs will eventually come with +50 eggs and there’s a pal machine bonus that gives +9 eggs so if you’re actually that lazy, then you could try waiting for those bonuses to “farm” +eggs.

        2. I don’t know, sub flexibility is one of her strong suits you basically just run whatever the dungeon calls for. Scheat is probably the only obvious regular. After that just make sure you have enough time extends to consistently activate.

        • I don’t think 10x MP is included in the current event…I did a Scarlet run just now, and I only got 522 MP out of it. That would make the actual MP numbers about 36% higher than you listed. I do, however, see your point, and I will probably get off my butt and start some +egg farming. Given my teams and my box, how many +eggs do you think I can pull off at a time?

          • Well, yes, you obviously need 10x MP active to get those numbers, similar to how most of the best +egg farming needs 10x +eggs. The point was to point out what you’re potentially missing out on.

            Not sure what you mean by “how many +eggs do you think I can pull off at a time?”. Do you mean per hour? If so, since you only have a single ROdin, maybe like 225 from something like Goemon or Tengu, but you’d likely need to invest in a uevo Goemon. Of course, things can change with co-op and skill inheritance.

            • Yeah, I meant to type “per hour.” I’ll probably wait until Wednesday to get the Crimson Demon Mask I need for evolving Goemon. One more question: I’ve decided to go with Rukia / Scheat / A. Isis / A. Orochi / Flex / Rukia. Should I dedicate the flex spot to Ryune or Skuld? I’m wondering whether to go with Ryune’s higher attack and haste active, or Skuld’s orb enhances, higher HP, and one turn less of an active cooldown.

            • Why not try both? I don’t think one is strictly better than the other. Although you may find Skuld’s HP to be of better general use.

    • 1. In general, I don’t think Loki is worth rolling for specifically, but if you’re serious about a Pandora team then there are certainly worse uses of your stones as he is probably your best bet to consistently beat Arena 1 without breaking the MP bank. The dupe risk is somewhat unfortunate, but with your box that will always be a risk anyways.

      2. I’m not sure how much a PCGF would benefit you, but I guess it depends on the lineup. PCGF is good for newer players trying to flesh out their box, but since you already have quality teams, something like that isn’t a high priority. It looks like you could use some more GFEs so without knowing the exact circumstances I would say 4x GFE is probably better for you.

    The only key card I am missing right now is Akechi. I’m interested in this GF because of the Dark gala, plus landing Loki would not hurt as a flex sub. From personal experience, gala cards tend to fill my pulls more than the pantheons and GFE’s. However, PCGF is right around the corner and I think Akechi will make it in again.

    1) Should I roll to try and improve my dark box (and hopefully land Akechi)? Or skip and wait for PCGF?

    • If Akechi is the only thing you really want then I would not roll in a gala for him. Yes, rolls are heavily influenced by the gala, but I don’t see any good reason to roll when the single card you really want is at a lower rate. If you want enough of the other cards, don’t mind the dupe risk and don’t mind putting down the money, then that’s another story, but that’s something you have to weigh for yourself.

      I also want to make sure you’re not just rolling in the PCGF just because it’s the PCGF. Akechi will almost certainly make the lineup, but you have to weigh whether the PCGF lineup is actually better for you than a normal Sengoku godfest. Your box already has a wide variety of pantheon gods, so it’s actually not obvious whether the PCGF actually presents good value for you or not. One thing you really have to watch out for are how many 6-stars make it (the more 6-stars, the worse EV). There’s also a chance the PCGF could be 4x GFEs which also changes the picture.

    1. I’m unsure how I should be allotting the stones (40+) over the GF, or if I should wait for PCGF, or roll in FF (jk, will probably do 1 roll cause I’m a FF fan). For this GF, I’m leaning toward day 1, b/c Castor/Loki would be good additions to my dark box, and Pollux would be great for a future A. DQXQ team. It also has less dupes (2) than day 2 (5), though Karin would be nice for a Blonia team. Alternatively, I could wait til PCGF, but I feel like I will have a large amount of those cards…

    • 1. You say you’re unsure of where to go, but from what I can tell you’ve evaluated your future quite well. Since your box is well developed, you basically have two options: roll for maximum value or roll for a specific card for the team you want to raise. I think you correctly identified that day 1 presents one of the best values for you since you have cards that you can put to good use while also minimizing the chance of dupes. It’s also great that you identified that the PCGF may not present the best value for you. I think your choice to roll day 1 is a good one. I’m skeptical about Karin on day 2 as I’m not sure how good she is for a BSonia team.

      2. I don’t see much potential in your fire or wood boxes. Your best bet for fire is to hope Cao Cao gets a nice awoken and see where you can go from there. Your wood box is fairly poor, but maybe Artemis could be put to use when Balboa hits NA.

    The advice I got before on one of your help threads was to wait for the PCGF for a good leader and some more options, so I managed to save up to about 100 stones. Unfortunately, I’m also a very big FF fan, and I don’t think I would be able to resist the pull.

    Urd is doing pretty well for now, so how many stones do you think I can sacrifice to the FF collab without ruining my PAD future? I’m still concerned about the relatively abysmal state of my box (though if that were really the case, I suppose I shouldn’t even be looking at collabs…).

    • FF only comes once a year, so if you’re a fan you shouldn’t feel bad about rolling. PCGF only comes twice a year, but it’s not like any of the rolls are unique to it.

      That being said, it would be unfortunate to mortgage your immediate PAD future with the strong possibility of poor FF rolls. So I’d try to save at least half of your rolls (10) for the PCGF. That will hopefully give you like 8 gold eggs of which at least half will be featured gods (hopefully). While spending all your stones on the PCGF would be ideal, I wouldn’t feel bad about rolling FF.

      Of course, there’s the small chance that you luck sack the FF REM which could also change the direction you go.

        Regarding Vivi, actually– do you think it’s better for me to sell him for MP or fuse him for the plusses? I’m assuming keeping him isn’t really an option.

        Also, while I’m ecstatic about Yuna, I don’t know if there’s any team I can build for her, or anything she really needs. Please tell me if there is.

    Hi setsu, much like your work. I am new NO-IAP, have only 36 days. In the last GF got a Pandora, and I was very excited to see that she is a very good leader for the end game, I have 60 jewels, and want to know if it’s good roll that GF pq has the midnight gala but pick up a quantity good gods and the dark gala maybe get a team to Pandora? Or save it for PCGF?

    • Considering the state of your box, the PCGF would be the better choice. You just need to fill out your roster and the PCGF is one of the best places to do it. While Pandora might be your best team, you’re so far from fielding a decent team that I don’t think it makes sense to go all in, especially as non-IAP. Also, galas should be taken as a nice bonus, not as a major reason to roll in a godfest.

    Hey Setsu! As it turns out, my “I’ll roll once a day and save the rest” approach last GF worked wonderfully, as I landed Amaterasu and Saria! I also jumped on the special bonus pack from the store, which rolled Lakshmi. However, I still don’t really have any core team worth mentioning (I really need evo mats, but evo PAL gives me 95% tier 1/2 masks >.<) and have generally been running Lex + Fire/Light subs farming some monster XP and stones.

    1) With the game seemingly pushing me to a blue/healer team between Lakshmi, bvalk, and Amaterasu, is there anything worth directly seeking this GF/FF?

    2) Does the guaranteed +30 make this a better time to spend some rolls, especially for a player who's top monster is around +12?

    I'll almost guaranteed spend a few rolls in the FF collab because I LOVE the games, and there's a chance at the amazing 6 star lineup,…

    • 1) At your rank with your box, you should devote as many stones as possible to the PCGF. What you already have doesn’t matter since they don’t make a coherent team anyways. The FF 6-stars aren’t great for you because besides maybe Yuna you won’t be able to run a decent team for them for a long time. That being said, if you like FF that much then you should roll for them, just know that those rolls won’t really help you in the short term.

      2) The bonus +eggs generally don’t matter since +eggs are so easy to get nowadays anyways.

    1. Now that I’ve pretty much decided that I’m rolling only on PCGF, do you think a lot of the stuff on the PCGF list will be dupes for me? I’m going to roll anyways for the DKali and Bastet, but I’m just wondering because there’s a lot of stuff that I wouldn’t mind getting too.

    2. Should I get the super deal pack thingy? It’s only 5 bucks, and its insane value is just yelling at me to lose my IAP virginity…

    3. Should I make any adjustments to my A.Sakuya/Panda teams? So far, I’m pretty solid on my A. Sakuya, but I’m considering swapping Isis and Susano when I do finally get around to getting the evo mats. Also, there might be something I’ve completely forgotten about. For instance, I totally forgot about how good Zuoh is on a Panda team, although Gungho gave me 5…

    4. What MP dragon should I get? When MP was just starting out, I was totally into getting RaDra, until I realized that getting a DKali was harder than I thought (if only you could trade monsters on PAD, I’d sell 4 Zuohs for a DKali…). I asked PadRagnarok through his box review series thing, and he seemed pretty certain that Yomidra was the right way to go, since all my dark subs are super legit. But then again, Xiang Mei and those other people are eventually going to be released to NA, and when they do, they’ll dominate our meta, shadowing Yomidra. Should I wait until I can get one of the 4 gentlemen things, or should I cash in all my REM rolls to get Yomidra now?

    5. What should I be looking for in terms of stuff/awokens I don’t have? Obviously DKali, but since I haven’t really been doing all my researching on new releases, I have only a general idea of what is good with what. Most of the stuff I want will pretty much become trophies, so I actually want to work towards something good.

    6. Do you recommend any other leads/subs that I don’t currently use (not I&I or Thor though, they’re too boring). I pretty much have been running Sakuya since rank 50, so I’ve been searching my box for something else to make the game more fun.

    • For number 4, just because Yomi Dragon would be overshadowed by Xiang Mei, etc., does not mean it will not be unviable. You do have some good Dark subs, and given Yomi Dragon is going to be released in the upcoming rotation, I don’t see it as a bad investment for you.
      However, I’m not setsu, so take my advice with a grain of salt. Setsu will probably give you much better advice, and answer the other questions as well.

    • 1) I do think there will be a large chance for dupes since you have most of the popular stuff, but it’s obviously impossible to tell until we see the actual lineup.

      2) If being true non-IAP means that much to you then don’t do it. Personally, I think it would be silly not to take advantage of it.

      3) Zuoh is definitely better than RSonia.

      4) I wouldn’t be in any rush to buy an MP card, especially since you already have a competent Pandora team. You should never buy an MP card unless you have the subs for it already and it doesn’t look like you have that for any of them, including the Four Gentlemen. Yes, you’re closest to a Yomi Dragon team, but no Eschamali means your damage will suffer greatly. So unless you’re deadset on running Yomi Dragon for some reason, I’d pass.

      I’d actually keep an eye on how Xiu Min pans out as it looks like you have some good building blocks with Raphael, Apocalypse, DQXQ and Wukong.

      5) The first step would be picking a team you want to build. Otherwise your search will be aimless. If I had to give general advice, I’d pick up the rest of the Greek 2 gods as they’re good just about everywhere.

      6) It’s all personal preference. But I guess I’d recommend looking into DQXQ. They might seem similar to Sakuya, but they’re actually more of row team than a rainbow/combo team.

    Teams are listed, but I mainly use Shiva for farming and Pandora/Luci for more difficult descends.
    Saria team seems like it could have its uses but I’m missing a Wukong among useful subs.

    The long and short: I was planning on saving for PCGF, I’ve currently accumulated 116 stones and ready to spend a pack for 85 more. However, this Godfest looks good.. Especially being a Dark Gala. I’ve long needed a board fixer for my dark teams, Castor would fill that role for Lucifer, or Haku could fit on either team. I would love a Loki for my teams as well, including my new Sephiroth team. I’m thinking about dividing my current stones between each event? Maybe plan ~50 stones allotted to each, with a potential to buy a pack during the PCGF.

    • I think that logic is sound. I think rolling either day 1 or 2 is acceptable. In a vacuum I think Haku + Hamal is better than Loki + Castor, but you should go for the day you think is a better fit for your teams. Just know that even though it’s a dark gala it’s just a small bonus. You’ll also be trading a bit of potential value for (what is hopefully) immediate gains, as in, there will certainly be a better godfest + dark gala in the future, but who knows when that will be?

      As for the PCGF, I’m not sure it’s automatically good for you since you have many of the more popular cards, especially the 6-stars like Kanna and DKali. Make sure you evaluate how good it actually is (or isn’t) for you once the lineup is announced.

    I’m less worried over whether I should or shouldn’t roll here – I know I shouldn’t unless I really need Loki or something – But what I should be looking for in general right now. I’m a little stuck in developing my teams, aside from knowing I need another Pandora for my A.Pandora team.

    I feel like if the PCGF has Uriel – which it almost certainly will – I want to roll for that to possibly make a semi-competent Xiang Mei team, especially if I end up with multiple of them. Though, I also feel like I might have a team for another one of the MP cards, especially Chrysanthemum with my bizarre luck in rolling 2 Saria, Ilm, and 2 Baal. Though, what do I know about making teams (Clearly none).

    I’m also debating if I should roll in FF at all – I know it’s overall poor, but most of the 6*, Vaan, Y’sholta, and even Rain (And possibly Terra and Bartz, if only for their actives) would be fantastic additions to my box, I feel. As well, the PCGF, while usually decent, isn’t set in stone so I have no idea if it’ll end up being worth it for me in the end.

    I do have a ton of stones (I’ll have over 100 by the time this event is over), so “wasting” a few shouldn’t hurt too badly. Hypothetically.

    • Considering the state of your box and the teams you have, it should be fine to splurge on FF. I mean, the game shouldn’t always be about playing “optimally”; fun and excitement also has to be a factor. Just set your expectations low.

      As for where to go from here, you need to choose a team or teams to focus on. Whether you choose them based on perceived power level, because they seem fun to play or some other criteria doesn’t matter. Xiang Mei is a bit dangerous since nothing can really replace that Uriel, but if it’s something you feel strongly about then you should try for it. I’m not really sure about Xiu Min; it looks like you have some building blocks, but I’m not really sure how his team should be composed. Or you can just focus on optimizing some of your existing teams.

    1. Not sure where to spend my stones and what else to work on. I feel like my dark teams are pretty fleshed out except for a few cards. I have been saving stones for a long time and have 123 stones, I kinda want to roll in the ff collab since I’m a huge ff nerd. Not sure if that is the wisest choice with my box dunno if i can make anything out of Yuna or Lighting if im lucky enough to get them.

    2. Or I could try and go for gladius and maybe pick up the Xiang Mei one day since I have two Uriels.

    3. Is there any potential in my water box with the two Blonia and Skuld?

    4. Is there any sort of farming team i can put together besides LuBu?

    Don’t know where to go from here in terms of progression, wheres the best place to roll my stones? Save for a x4 GFE? or Yolo FF collab

    • 1. Since you have some solid teams already, I think it’s fine to roll in the FF Collab, especially since you’re a fan. Sure, the EV is not great, but as long as you understand that going in I don’t see the harm in rolling for something you like. As for where to go from here, you need to either pick a new team(s) you want to make or a current one you want to perfect, then go from there. Although considering your box, rolling for value is still a viable option (like if all you wanted was value, day 1 would not be horrible since you have no dupe risk).

      2. Since Gadius is a GFE you can pick you spots on when to roll for him. Try to maximize value to make sure he’s in a godfest where you need other cards or better yet, during a 4x GFE event.

      3. I do think there’s potential. I’d look into whether You Yu interests you or not. Otherwise you can make a standard BSonia team, although the lack of I&I somewhat limits what you can do. I’m personally really looking forward to Skuld’s leader skill buff, so that’s an option, too.

      4. Maybe Skuld when she gets her leader skill upgrade.

    I have saved up 120 stones and I am wondering if its better to wait for the PCGF or pull a bit on day 2 for Leila or Haku, Leila for my Shiva team and Haku for a possible APandora team (Panda/Haku/Zuoh/Ronia/Luci or something) I also have a DQXQ but don’t think I have enough to make a solid team once their Awoken hits NA.

    • Hard to say. Haku will almost certainly make the PCGF, but Leilan almost certainly won’t. So I guess it comes down to how much you want Leilan (although I’m not sure how good she is on Shiva). I personally think an average PCGF can still be good for you since you don’t have a huge selection of gods yet. You also have to factor that Akechi will also likely be voted in and having a chance to get him and Haku both at boosted rates is a pretty great opportunity.
