Disclaimer: The aggregate list is basically a compilation of the leader tier lists from three JP PAD sites: Game8, GameWith and AppMedia. The idea is that while a single tier list can have many points of contention, hopefully an aggregate can kind of smooth things over (it doesn’t, really, but it helps a bit). I try to keep my hands off the results as much as possible; the extent of my involvement is setting the algorithm to aggregate the results. I wish I could be fully hands off, but as none of the lists have 1:1 correlation in their grades, I have to have that much involvement. Don’t take these ratings as fact; I encourage you to simply take them as a starting point for discussion to figure out which leads are actually the best for your specific situation.

Going to keep the comments short this time. The most notable change this time is GameWith updating their list to factor in multiplayer, meaning MZeus and MHera debut on the list proper, but leads like Sephiroth also get a boost.

JP Aggregate Leader List Changes of Note

Card Notes
2507 - Awoken Archdemon Lucifer
Change: 3➞2

Received a surprising upgrade from GameWith.

2505 - Awoken Astaroth
Change: 2➞3

I was always skeptical of her placement on the GameWith list. This seems more reasonable.

2766 - Unwavering Summoner, Yuna
Change: ❀➞3

Just in time for the FF Collab on NA.

2528 - Awoken Machine Zeus
Change: Added to 3

The official addition of multiplayer to the tier lists signals the beginning of the end for me.

2445 - The Greatest Enemy, Raoh
Change: Removed from ❀

Still one of my favorite teams. RIP.

New Card Holding Tank

New cards will be held here temporarily in an attempt to isolate the aggregate list from knee-jerk ratings.
Card Notes
2943 - 滅翼の龍帝王・Sherias Roots
Ranked Sites: Game8 (S)

110x ATK and 2.25x RCV for dragons sounds pretty strong, especially since DKali and the now seemingly ubiquitous Orochi qualify for the team. In spite of the god killer and superior active, he’s still worse than Ra Dragon due to the lack of bind immunity.

As with most new additions, I’m a bit skeptical, but Sherias Roots sure seems strong on the surface.

2261 - God of the Night, Tsukuyomi Dragon

Sigh. With this, the first step towards me discontinuing this post series has been taken. I have almost no interest in multiplayer so there’s no point in putting in the work if the lists become too heavily biased towards it.

GameWith Changes of Note

Card Notes
2528 - Awoken Machine Zeus
Change: Added to SS

Machine Zeus is straight broken and him debuting as SS should be no surprise.

2507 - Awoken Archdemon Lucifer
Change: B➞S

Not really sure why Lucifer got such a huge bump. His good points are listed as “good Arena 1 farming” and “benefits greatly from skill inheritance”, but that’s true for plenty of other teams. Pandora aside, since I’m obviously biased towards her, there are plenty of other dark teams that have similar capabilities — like Cecil, Persephone, Nobunaga, and even Yomi Dragon — and they didn’t get anything. Having to play the guessing game with cryptic changes like these is one of the major reasons why taking tier lists as anything more than a starting point for discussion is dangerous. I could speculate all day why he got boosted so much, but in the end we’ll never really know what the author was thinking.

2526 - Awoken Machine Hera
Change: Added to S

Machine Hera isn’t quite as good as MZeus, but is still straight broken.

2566 - Ancestral Blue Dragon Caller, Sonia
Change: Removed from A

RIP.

2255 - Sea Deity, Neptune Dragon
Change: Removed from A

RIP. At least water got You Yu to ease the suffering while wood never gets anything.

2766 - Unwavering Summoner, Yuna
Change: Added to B

While it’s nice to see GameWith as come around on Yuna, the absence of DQXQ seems questionable.

  1. Hi Setsu, I was hoping to get your opinion on Xiu Min. I was expecting to at least see him in the holding tank this week. I know he has an amazing sub pool, and he isn’t limited to physical types either.

He seems just as orb hungry as You Yu, and 110x as a row leader seems pretty insane (25x from shivadra already produces some high numbers). I would love your insight, thanks!

    • At the time I made the list, he wasn’t even out in JP yet (I think he was added to the MP Shop today). Expect to see him next week.

      • My apologies, I didn’t realize that. I look forward to it!

P.S. allow me a moment to fanboy a bit and say that I love your work on this blog. I found you when googling optimal combo board guides and have followed you for at least a year. Thank you for all your hard work!

  2. How would a Xin hua team with XH, Typhon, Typhon, Typhon, Sleeping Beauty, XH be compared to a Xiang mei team with XM, Gadius, Gadius, Red riding Hood, NY mitsuki, XM? Have 300k mp, and already own a Yomi dragon. A Ra dragon team is possible, but I only have one dkali, and no Indra/kanna.

    • Both teams seems fairly poor, but the Xiang Mei is innately more powerful to I’d go with her if I absolutely had to choose one.

  3. It seems that Saria/Thor is still hanging pretty strong.. It’s also fortunate Panda is still pretty strong.. I’m surprised that Rukia/Sephiroth is ranked higher than her. I guess for Rukia, her RCV and sub flexibility makes her better than Panda? Although Panda should have a higher HP threshold.

As for Sephiroth, 81x is indeed strong, but aside from the Mech Dungeons, I feel Panda is more than capable.

Oh, I also bought Shiva Dragon recently, and oh man… I have been missing out.. farming most content is such a breeze now haha.. TPAs kill almost everything and a Row kills most sub bosses/bosses. haha

  4. Just started using Rukia and damn she’s good. She and Scheat make one wicked powerful team.

What subs are best for bind removal on Yuna? A. Isis? Or something a little more potent?

  5. Do you dislike multiplayer because it opens up the possibility that others can play them continuously without trouble if they had a reliable partner, thereby giving advantage to certain players as new multiplayer content is released?

    • I don’t like it because it feels like a sub par product is being forced down our throats. One of PAD’s strengths was that you could run a dungeon at your convenience. You could start a run while waiting in line for lunch then finish later after work is over. To play multiplayer competently, you have to coordinate through a 3rd party application since there’s no matchmaking or communication system. Then the implementation is just clunky; yes it’s getting better, but it’s still missing simple quality of life improvements like a “play again” button. Combine this with them releasing OP leads like MZeus and MHera and pushing rewards and I’ve been turned off to the whole thing. The fact that the last NA challenge dungeons was co-op-only was the straw that broke the camel’s back; I know it won’t always be like that (hopefully), but it was like a realization of all my fears about the feature.

Despite all that, I’m glad that it’s an option. Many people seem to enjoy it and I think that’s great. It has also foster a small sense of community which is what I think they were going for.
