Apparently, Game8 approved of the last round of uevos.
Finally!
Okuninushi finally makes the list; at S no less. A few followers of this blog and I have been beating his drum for a while now, so it’s nice to see him finally getting some credit. Is he worthy of S? Hmm… as much as I like him, that’s not where I’d put him. If I were in charge of the list, only Isis, LKali, DKali, and DIza would be S-tier. Oh, yeah, how could I forget; I’d add Haku to S-tier, too. I’d also lean towards putting Yomi Dragon there, as well.
Now they just need to work on Susano.
BSonia Debuts at A+
I quickly theorycrafted a BSonia team here and it feels good that someone had the same idea and cleared the Arena with it:
There’s no doubt that she’s a good leader. She definitely belongs at A+. I think the team is weak to all the orb changing going on in the Arena and there’s only so much a single Amberjack can do to mitigate it — he also has to pull anti-bind duty, too — but outside heart troll the team has Amaterasu-level healing with over 10k more HP.
Meanwhile, GSonia is quietly weeping in a corner…
What About Sylvie?
Sylvie debuted as a sub at A+, but is nowhere to be seen on the leader list. Maybe Reco isn’t the best example to try to gauge the effectiveness of a leader with, but it certainly looks like the team is Arena-worthy. I don’t know the ins and outs of the team, but even if it isn’t as good as Ryune-I&I or Saria-Thor, it seems like making Sylvie-Freyja at least an A-tier leader pair is a no-brainer. I guess the same thing could be said for Loki and Freyr, though. Just more examples of why playing musical chairs based on “popularity” is a bad idea. At the very least she seems like a better leader than Astaroth, if only for her active skill.
More Musical Chairs at Sub A-Tier
In:
- Belial makes a lot of sense here. I don’t think he’s worthy of A+ yet, but considering that he’s a great Raoh sub he’s well deserving of a slot at A. I really do think his time extend makes him much, much better than Astaroth.
- I’m not as much of a fan of adding the two-color board changers back in. In a vacuum, they deserve to be there on raw power alone, but the real question is: which team actually wants them as subs? They aren’t bad on any team, but they aren’t particularly great, either. Well, Ilm is great on Cloud, but the Sonias haven’t proven to me they’re essential anywhere.
Out:
- I’ve been saying GZL should’ve been off the list for months. It’s sad that it took GSonia’s uevo to finally bump him off. Not that either change means much with the way Game8 maintains the A-tier now.
- I’m not going to miss Famiel, but the other Angels don’t deserve their spots, either. At the very least I think Apollo is better than Ariel. He’s actually a good sub on Saria-Thor; Ariel is good where?
- Continuing on Apollo, this is a great example of why the Game8 sub list is infuriating. There are no good leaders for Perseus on their own leader list and the only reason he’s still there is inertia. Not to mention that the Norse and Constellations have made his two SBRs much less of an asset. On the other hand, Apollo is a great sub on Saria-Thor, yet he gets cut. Game8 needs to learn that a sub has no value if there’s no leader for it.
- Urd is the biggest tragedy here. Ryune trumps Skuld on just about every team so I’d rather have seen her fall off, fluffiness or none. Urd is still necessary for Awoken Shiva and is a good full-board option for Shiva Dragon.
Did I miss something? Please leave a comment and let me know!
The best thing about the Bonia vid you posted is that it’s a crappy two row board, with poor skyfall luck, and it STILL hits Kali low enough! I suspect that a triple row might have one-shot her, but IDK for sure. Nice to see theorycrafted teams in action! I don’t think its a great farming team because there are a few places where two or three turns of bad skyfalls and you’re dead, but all in all, clearing arena is a great indication for the team! I think I’ll be building this team down the road, as literally EVERY sub is in one or two other teams I’m building. I find it fun how people complain about water being so prohibitive in theam building so often (which is kind of fair tbh…), but when you have the right pieces, they all work together incredibly well! AI&I have become staples, Karin/Amberjack have been staples since Lakshmi, Bodin has been a great flex sub, and finally finds a solid home, and last of all, Bonia has regained her throne as the strongest of the Sonia sisters! Until they inevitably make light and dark sonias… They will, just look at how they made more dragonbounds… Maybe only dark Sonia because of Sonia Gran, but we’ll see…

That Blonia team makes me really wish there was a Water version of Akechi and Sanada. Anyway, not much I can say about the tier changes. A rank is a mess as always; I just ignore it completely at this point. I’m glad Okuni finally got the credit he deserves, even if I still haven’t managed to snag one myself.

A farmable sub on a BSonia team, the former most IAP heavy team in the game, never thought I’d see the day.

Would it be crazy of me to think that Kenshiro is good enough to be in the A tier as a lead? I get that the active skill isn’t great but the multiplier seems excellent (ATK and RCV) and he has some nice stats and awakenings and Attacker and Physical have some great options for subs even if Kalis may not take full advantage of his leader skill. Maybe I’m just not familiar enough with end game, but he seems like he should be a good end game lead.

Probably. I think he and Horus are at least on the same level as Vegito now. The list of snubbed leaders is fairly long, which is why they should just ditch the A-tier and move everything down one.

Also shocked to see Urd out, and Gronia/Blonia up as subs. (For that matter, what’s Artemis’ business there?) I suppose they make good subs for themselves.

I was initially going to pick on Artemis for the Apollo-Perseus comparison since the comparison would’ve been apples to apples then, but I didn’t want people nitpicking about Gon. But, yes, she’s a questionable presence as well.

Glad to hold on Blonia, Glad to sell Gronia, she don’t belong anywhere but the sell button. BUt dont have good subs for her (only amberjack and 2 Karin) blodin is just a creature of myth in my 2+ years of pad, Hell I just got Dmeta from the rare egg machine on a wimp of nonsense to waste 5 stones…..

Yay bludin having a home.
Yay Okuni making the list.
boo more musical chairs.
The A-Tier needs to just get dropped, Far too many things fit into what should be “A-tier” now, powercreep happened, Rushes aren’t the barometer anymore, accept change Game8 😉
I get that the whirlwind of powercreep has been tricky to keep up with, but it feels like it should be pretty solidified now.
We’ve seen a steady flow of Uuevo’s and Awokens that aren’t pushing any limits. We have Yomidra and Radra, sporting excellent arena rates, and simply dominating “normal” content. We have awokens dominating normal content and sporting, acceptable, but low(ish) arena rates. 20-30% I think what the tiers should be is pretty obvious.
S – Arena over 50%, other content pretty close to 100%
A+ – Rushes pretty much farm, Higher challenges, scary but clearable.
A Solidly able to clear legend pluses, but higher challenges are pushing the limits, probably requiring a stone or a few attempts.
if they want SS to be arena over 75%, I’m fine with that, I do think arena teams are deserving of their own tier, after all, the most sort after of the games rewards are Py’s, defeating arena consistently is more important than challenge dungeons, unless they start giving out monster points in real amounts.
All in all, I think their list is narrowing in on accurate, except that A tier, as they have it, should be about 20 leaders long, and they just rotate on popularity, which isn’t helpful.
Sub list… idk set it on fire. At least they discovered that Okuni was good?

Hi Setsu,
I’m making a verdandi team, and I’m using GZL and Vishnu as subs. For my other 2 sub slots, I’m debating between Cao Cao, Set, Cu Chulainn and Valkyrie Elize.
I know what team you use will vary, based on what dungeon you’re going into, but I was wondering if you had an opinion on which 2 of those 4 options would generally be best?
Thanks!

I really depends on what else you have, particularly if you have any fire teams brewing. In a vacuum I’d go Elize then Cu Chu.

Not sure when she was added, but Awoken Astaroth is currently listed as an A rank sub on game8. It seems a bit odd to me, as what team is she ideal on? Reco opted for Spica over her on an Awoken Freyja x Slyvie team because Spica has a better active.

Their sub list is trash, especially at A, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Hey just wanted your advice on something, currently I’m running Lakshmi for farming and easier descends and Dark A.Sakuya for when things get dirty, but i really want to build a tank team. after the PCGF i ended up with 2x Saria, 2x Apollo, 2x Apocalypse and Amaterasu, and its hard for me to decide the final setup.

Unfortunately, I’m not that well versed in the new tank teams. From that sub selection you gave me, it doesn’t seem like you have much choice. Saria / Saria / Apoc / Apollo / Apollo / Thor seems fine. Then run Amaterasu over a Saria or Apollo if you need 100% SBR or bind utility. I’d personally want a DQ for the team. Sun Wukong also works, I suppose.

My buddy and I have been working on it quite a bit, we’re pretty solid on. Saria, Raphael, Wukong, DQ, Apollo, FL: Thor.
Apollo can be many things, Apoc is probably being the best one. Raphael is more of an Arena card, to survive the shielded kali, but 5 is a lot of rows, so he’s always good.

well what i listed pretty much covers all my light row options, personally i would love a double orb changer but 3K and heroes godfests havent been nice to me, also i was thinking of bringing Nordis into arena to deal with kali
